Great family destination.

Check in was easy. We were impressed with the quality of the kitchen and appliances. Very quiet and relaxing location. Wonderful place to bring your boat and tie up.

Annual Family Vacation

My family has been camping in Hayward for over 20 years, and this year we decided to do a Vrbo. We were so happy with our experience at the Great Escape! The house was clean, fully stocked, and the owners were very responsive. The house was very private, and the views were beautiful. We will definitely stay here again!

Labor Day Get Together

We loved our stay at the Great Escape!! The house was lovely and well equipped. The dock and fire pit were wonderful and we loved paddling in the kayaks. The flowage was beautiful and we enjoyed boating and looking at the wildlife. Would highly recommend and look forward to returning!

House was plenty big enough for our family and had all the amenities we needed. Liked the fact that the property had a path and level walk to the dock and that it had a spot to clean fish. Great Cabin in a beautiful setting.

Every year our group gets together to relax and do some fishing. This year we tried something new and chose this cabin in the beautiful Hayward area. We were not disappointed. Quiet beautiful setting, wood burning fireplace, our own dock, and plenty of room for the 7 of us. We will definitely be back.

Hayward getaway

We had a wonderful time at Great Escape. The kids and grandkids especially enjoyed fishing and swimming from the dock. The house was equipped with everything you need. Communication with Ann was great. She always responded quickly to my emails. We will be back!

The Great Escape: Chippewa Flowage

Our stay was great. The property was very well maintained and clean. It is a very nice, quality home and was just as described. A key item was that they provided so many extras that others dont, extra pots, pans, utensils, bags, lighters, you name it. They had a great firepit with unlimited dry wood, very nice. And best of all was the location. Very quiet, private and if you have a boat (we did) the dock and dock location cant be beat. Over all : Very nice.

Truly A Great Escape!

My wife & I just finished up a month in this wonderful house. It was “just as described” - which is refreshing.Visiting friends & family were delighted at the property and its amazing location. Lake Chippewa is one of America’s largest “wilderness lakes”! 25-square miles of virtually undisturbed shoreline. Bald eagles, loons, deer, an unbelievable amount of wildlife. This has to be one of the most magnificent VRBO rentals in the North Woods!! We could not be more pleased with our stay at THE GREAT ESCAPE.

Very well stocked and equipped. Screened in porch a real plus, especially in rainy weather. Home was clean and just as shown in pictures. Owner was easy to contact and very responsive. Also a great place to bring a pet (private and generally contained yard). We had a great time.

Superb cabin/home.So many amenities. . . Kayaks to use, fire pit with marshmallow roasting sticks, outdoor yard games, indoor family games, hea lamps for bathroom (oooo yeah), and those are just to name a few.Oh and ropes at the dock to tie your boat off, that was handy.When messaging to owners they were very quick to respond and helpful.Deer roamed in the backyard, just gorgeous and peaceful.Better than any hotel, so glad we went this route.

Great family week at the Great Escape!

Property is as described. Fully stocked kitchen, plenty of towels, blankets and other supplies. Beds were very comfortable. This property is located in a very quiet, peaceful and private location. The spacious deck and screened porch were favorite hangout spaces. The lake is great for fishing! Caught enough fish for a couple meals and even more to take home. Owners very easy to communicate with and very responsive to our questions. Highly recommend this property, would rent again!

Iowa Family Fishing Trip in Wisconsin

We love Hayward and have since the early 2000s. We've stayed on various lakes. Fished and mountain biked. This place calls us back year after year. The Chippewa Flowage and this VRBO were the best we've stayed at and on thus far. Everything was perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back.

Beautiful cabin and location

We were so pleased with The Great Escape cabin. Ann was wonderful to work with and was always quick to respond and accommodate. Ann agreed to allow 12 people when I asked if we could bring an air mattress. The kitchen had EVERYTHING you would need. The cabin is secluded and peaceful. It’s a tough lake to fish because it’s so large, but we figured it out toward the end of the week. Fishing off the dock wasn’t fruitful, but I think it’s because the lake was two feet lower than normal. I highly recommend this cabin!!! So beautiful!

Don't pass on this one

All I can say is wow!! This place is amazing. We came up for the Birkie and typically stay at a different location. This year we decided to look for a new place to stay and we are so glad we did. Peaceful setting and the views from the living room windows are amazing. We woke up on the first morning to deer looking in the windows. The amenities in the home are everything you could possibly need. Wifi was excellent and strong enough to stream any movie via the built in apps on the TV. We will definitely be back. Don't pass this gem up!
