“We just needed a stopover on our way through Austria, and chose this one mainly due to the price. It said 24 hours reception, so we had no problem in arriving at 1am. Upon arrival we called, and soon after Maria greeted us welcome, and showed us the way to our room, asked us what time we would like breakfast and made sure we were all settled. It felt more……

“Pros: Die Sommerfrische is one of the best holiday homes we’ve ever stayed in — and we’ve stayed in quite a few! It’s spotlessly clean, bright and peaceful, surrounded by beautiful Austrian countryside and right at the foot of the Otter. We hiked it in about four hours round trip, and the hammock was the perfect place to relax afterwards and enjoy the mountain views. The house has a lovely atmosphere, combining the charm of an old country home with a beautiful, modern renovation. The family has……

“If I could give less than one star, I would. We booked three nights but checked out after just one because the conditions were so bad. The room was extremely hot with no air conditioning, so we had to open the window—only to have insects come in. The bed sheets had holes, the towels smelled awful, and I found something gross under the bed that I’d rather not describe. The toilet didn’t flush properly, and worst of all, I found bed bugs and had to kill them myself. The whole place felt neglected……
