Best Western Mineola Inn

10/10 Excellent

"Upon arrival, the front desk staff was friendly and got me checked in quickly. The room was quite large and also had a large bathroom. Everything worked as expected. One thing that was weird to me, was that the rooms dont come with a coffee pot. You have to ask for one. But that doesn't bother me, I rarely drink it anyways. The only thing I didnt like, was how rough the bath towels are. They are seriously some of the roughest and most uncomfortable towels I've ever used. I did not partake on the free breakfast, so I can't review that. But the air conditioning was great in the room and it was overall a good experience!"

"Nice and very clean. The guy from the front desk came down to fix the TV. I had a dead remote. The refrigerator kept our ice cream frozen. The bed was great. I slept through the night. I normally get up around 3AM when not sleeping at home. The shower hot water was not as hot as the sink water, but I am sure that is set so you don't scald yourself. It was worth every penny."

"The price was good. The bed was comfortable. The first room had a very strong chemical fragrance that triggered asthma, and they did kindly give us a different room where they didn't spray that fragrance. Had to wait until it was cleaned. The new room smelled of ancient cigarette smoke residue, the small amount that lingers after a place is fixed up. No musty/moldy smell, which was good. So we stayed. Bathroom extractor fan worked well, along with A/C. Shower water pressure was good and modern bowed-out shower curtain was good. No Kleenex in room. No hook to hang clothes on in bathroom. Towels were worn. Soap and shampoos were good. Fridge worked well and was the taller type of minifridge. Only one hanger in closet. No bedside table to set phone and things on, it was over by door of the room. Two beds, but only one chair at small dining table. No hair dryer, coffee maker, iron, or ironing board, but it's a basic place. Two doors down people were staying with a black Labrador retriever in their room. So if you have allergies this place isn't for you. Ceiling lights were bright. It was all updated and non-smoking, but an ash tray was outside on top of each room's air unit. We usually stay at a more expensive place, and we will go back to doing that."

"When we arrived it looked like the hot tub was leaking. The side walk had green algae on it which required us walked over. Pictures on the site did not match what we actually saw and when we called the host she stated pictures were for staging. The jacuzzi tub in the bathroom s not hooked up and host said it’s not listed in the amenities. We rented this place for my wife to use the hot tub and so I could use the jacuzzi. The hot tub was clean, nice and worked properly. It's secluded but while in the hot tub people drove by in their ATV. Good thing we were clothed. Inside cabinet for dress clothes was stacked with games which had to be moved to the floor. There is not a dresser for casual clothes. No WiFi or Bluetooth. The guest Rules book had directions on how to connect the stereo to our phones. Tried but message said locked. The host said for us to unplug it but everything is plugged behind the cabinet and rules stated we couldn't move the furniture. So tried the record player and the records go around but no sound. Chair/sleeper had big stain on it. The old tub outside was full of dark green water with bug eggs and water lines are not hooked up. Ad and rules book say queen bed but it was a full size bed. The grill is not the same in picture and was dirty. The kitchen had all we needed. Would be nice to have 2 chairs inside for us to sit together vs the two end tables by the bed. Overall disappointed in this one."

Pine Grove Cottage - Romantic Getaway on Private Lake

"This place is everything we imagined and more. My husband and I came here for our wedding anniversary. We wanted a quiet weekend away from the city and kids. I was looking for a place to fish, watch birds and enjoy the peace. Without a doubt, this cottage checked every box. We arrived to the most pleasant and sweet host dropping off fresh eggs from the chicken coop in the front yard, homemade jelly, and some biscuits. The only photos don’t even do this place justice. the flower bed out front is gorgeous, the house feels and looks like I just got to my grandmas house for the weekend. The tall trees, peaceful water and welcoming wild life was everything we imagined. The beds were amazing, the house was stocked with everything we needed. We caught SO many fish. I caught a large catfish, biggest catch of the weekend which I will continue to rub in my husbands face. The bass were biting like crazy and my husband loved every second. We enjoyed early canoe rides and I even went out myself in the evening just to enjoy the smooth water and peace. Have your cameras ready for the amazing birds. Cardinals are surrounding you here and I was lucky enough to wake up to a humming bird sipping flowers in the morning. I just cannot put into words how amazing our weekend was here. If you are considering the future place, just do yourself a favor and book it. We are already booking our next stay for a couple of months away and plan to bring our 3 little girls so that they can catch some perch."
