We would be thrilled to rent this property again. Dan was responsive before booking (in fact responded faster than the 5 other properties run by rental agencies I sent questions to at the same time), and through our stay. Check-in process was smooth and easy. Dan also checked in with us after arrival to make sure everything was comfortable and to see if we needed anything.
The house itself was fantastic. We noticed and appreciated several details that enhanced our stay and spoke to the attention Dan and his wife put into the property. Things like baby gates at all stairs, a child's potty seat, step stool, labeled light switches (seriously so helpful!), optional cabinet locks, outlet protectors, comfortable deck chairs, and plenty of beach toys. There were great books for kids through adults, games, puzzles, and even some toys. The kitchen was well supplied with pots/pans, an electric griddle, electric kettle, and hand mixer. The appliances worked perfectly fine and we appreciated that dishwasher detergent and washing machine detergent were present so we didn't have to buy them after arrival.
The location was wonderful. Nice view of the ocean from the deck, easy stroll to beach access. Great park across the street. Close to the mainland and plenty of shopping, the Soundside Park, and places to eat or get coffee or ice cream.
I will balance this with a few cons, just because while they weren't enough to deter us from wanting to return, others may want to have the information.
The loft is a truly fantastic feature for kids, and the amazing windows are a real asset to the house. But that combination means that even with attempts at providing curtains the loft gets pretty bright early in the morning. Our light sensitive kids already have eye masks, so it wasn't a huge issue for us, but if you have kids that wake up with the light you'll want to put them downstairs or introduce them to eye masks while sleeping or they'll be up at 6:30 with the sun.
The Trailer Bar across the street was loud. And rowdy. Mostly on Friday and Saturday nights. Loud enough that I was woken up from shouting at 2am one night and the music was noticeable on those nights even with windows closed up. Light sleepers may benefit from sleeping on the ocean facing bedroom or bringing ear plugs. We didn't feel unsafe, however and the rest of the surrounding neighborhood was calm and quiet. Again, not a deterrent from a future stay, but may be helpful to prepare for.
