For the price, the rooms and amenities fall short. The rooms are smaller than expected, not as clean as they should be, and the in‑room AC units are extremely loud—especially at night—making it hard to sleep. 「The breakfast and service was very good! Our room needed a clothing hook repaired and the walk in shower floor was cracked. Other than those things needing some maintenance attention, everything else was just fine. It was a very convenient location for us. I would stay again.」

「The Shem Creek Inn was a good home base for us in Charleston. The hotel pool was great. The location overlooking the river was really fun for people watching! Hotel parking is really convenient. Walkable to several restaurants right on the water and a quick drive to other restaurants on Sullivan's Island. The hotel breakfast is ok. Not great, but easy. Fridge and microwave in the room were really helpful. We will definitely stay here again when we're back in the area.」

「Soft beds, clean room, friendly staff. Pinky’s was nice for quick food without leaving the hotel. I wish it did room service. The coffee in the coffee shop is excellent. Parking was easy and no problem finding a spot in the hotel lot. Nice beach area and pool. Close to everything and great view from the balcony. One of the two elevators was broken for less than a day but it was inconvenient when you are on the seventh floor.」
