First and Last Vrbo booking

We wanted to visit New-York and have a place in New jersey with a kitchen so we could cook a little and not eat in restaurants all the time. Even if the reviews were half and half, we decided to give it a try. Pros : - Easy check-in and check out - Very responsive host (Wi-Fi was down, was fixed by next morning) - some key areas were kept clean kitchen, bathtub, toilet and linens (even if some were stained) - easy to go to PATH trains to reach New-York Mixed feelings: - Parking lot ; fun to have one but not suitable for a minivan since there is a tree a the end of it, parking is very narrow and the tree produce a lot of blue berries, our shoes had to be washed before entering the apartment and going back home. - Had to ask were the password was located, wish the owner left further details like Wi-Fi password location or how to use things around the apartment. - Neighborhood : You can see that its disadvantaged but friendly. But I wouldn't have slept with windows open at night. Cons: - Floor, walls and window sill were heavily dirty. We were afraid to walk barefoot in the apartment, thank god we brought our inside flip flops. There is water damage in the bathroom and again the floor mat was super filthy. We try to put nothing on the floor and put our luggage on top of chairs and furniture. - The only fan in the apartment was broken (the host propose to replace it the next day and told me that it was weird because the cleaning lady didn't tell him but I just saw a previous comment stating that the fan was broken...) So we went that same night to Walmart to buy 2 fans because I needed to buy 2 for my house anyway. Since the is no A/C and it was a zillion degrees even if its a basement, it was the best purchase of the weekend..... - There were dead cockroaches in the hallway (did not see in the apartment), building smelled like mold and humidity (but the odor in the apartment was ok). - Upstairs' neighbour spent hours and hours at night to walk around and move around furniture, first night we didn't slept much. So if you wonder why we stayed, its because we had already payed and didn't want to loose the money, we spent has little time has we could there (only sleep) and left first thing on the last morning to escape what my kids kindly called the pigsty... When we arrived home every little item that came out on my car were disinfected and immediately was at super high temperature to be sure we didn't brought unwanted guest back home.

They could of done a way better job cleaning the property. No AC and small fan that they provided wasn’t working. Ended up checking out 1 day early. But I did like the entertainment system and the couch

Quite atrocious

My daughter and I read the prior ratings and we’re still open wanted to give this place a try. Brandon the host was pretty good at a response. Nonetheless, this was a terrible experience beyond words, to the point where they packed up five hours after we arrived and left. Besides the place being filthy dirty to include German cockroaches in the bathroom food on the floor your lopsided bed food stuck to the microwave Lazy Susan, etc. etc. the woman upstairs is unacceptable. To say the least. The prior comments about walking around loudly are a understatement at least for our experience. We heard no autistic child as stated in the prior comments, but what we did here was screaming stomping furniture moving banging and what seem to be bowling balls dropping for five hours straight. We were greeted by the same woman as she screamed out the window at us negative comments about the VRBO rental. We had a very negative experience, and would not recommend this to anyone and on the contrary I would encourage you to bypass this listing.

No major issue stay; would consider to re-book after enhancement

Price is decent with the duration we stay. Host is flexible but not fast enough in respond. No issue with check in and out. Building is a bit old. Neighborhoods are friendly. Neighborhood is not the best. Host should do a deep clean/renovate in kitchen and bathroom.. Bed is comfortable. Host could enhance the quality of this apartment for more guests booking.

No heat or TV or wifi

Where do I begin ?? Checking in was fairly easy but we had questions for the landlord and he basically ignored us. There was an electric fireplace that was the only heat source and it was broken. Plus 2 towels and the linens smelled horrendous in the closet. Neighbors upstairs kept us the first 2 nights with their domestic abuse issues. There were also 2 non sto barking dogs. The wifi and TV were known existent. I would not recommend this place as there were 2 mostly used rolls of the paper for 3 adults. Oh and let's not forget the bugs that we killed. Never again.

Perfect for our needs

We enjoyed our stay. It was well furnished and the bed was super comfy; brought my son to a hockey game in Newark to watch the Bruins beat the Jersey Devils! and spend the weekend in and around NYC. It was close to Journal Square for the PATH train and close to the Prudential for a quick drive. The apartment itself was on the street level and nicely furnished. They had a great Sobro coffee table speaker that was awesome! Everything we needed for a home base, and street parking was easy (we drove). Overall, it was great, price was right and would recommend. It is a pet friendly and family friendly apartment building, so there was noise occasionally from barking pups and children, but we love both, so no problem there. The only thing that could have gone smoother was that the details for check in didn't come with the confirmation, which was unusual. Since there were no other reviews, I was a bit skeptical, but it all worked out in the end and we were texted the details the night before we arrived. The wi-fi details were the same, but there was a Verizon hotspot with password when we arrived. Would only recommend they add the info for checkin and wifi to the listing so it comes with the confirmation.

Do not stay here!!

This was the worst experience ever! First and last time booking with Vrbo. This owner failed to communicate anything with me, the place is in an unsafe area and the neighbors upstairs are very loud and disrespectful. There were no check in instructions and no wifi information. The appliances at this place do not work. Please do not stay here. You will regret it. I had to leave because it was just a bad experience. It smells and it’s dirty. Book somewhere else, you will thank me later!
