"The property is on a VERY beautiful and secluded reef. Could be one of the most private on the island. If you want to be in the water and don’t want to be shoulder to shoulder with other people like in waikiki, this is the place for you. I’d argue if you swim far enough out the reef is as pretty as electric beach.
The rooms are wonderful, but the building is a little beat up from decades of being on the windward coast. This type of vacation is for open minded laid back fold who want a more rustic and less touristy vibe. Your main a/c source here is an open door and fans.
If you want granite halls and pillars with huge lobby areas and cafe’s, this is not for you.
100/10 would stay here for every trip without question."
"We enjoyed our stay, the unit was very clean and had just about everything to cook, clean, do laundry, etc.
The unit also had beach chairs, boogie board, and some snorkel equipment. The views from the balcony or lanai were amazing. We saw turtles, seals and gorgeous sunrises and sunsets from the lanai. The property is being revamped but that slight noise didn’t bother our stay at all.
Overall we were pleased with everything and we hope to stay again in the future!"
"Even better than I could have ever imagined! This is the definition of PARADISE. Falling asleep to the sound of the ocean breezes, and even with no AC, it stayed pretty cool between the fans and the vented windows. For our first Hawaii experience, we are so glad we chose the Windward side, which is slower paced and quieter than the city side of the island. We did get to see the sea turtles at night and early in the morning. What a beautiful experience! Terrie is the best host! Impeccable decorating and just a thoughtful place to stay. You can tell she really puts her heart into it, and she even checks on you to make sure you are doing OK. If I could give 10 stars, I certainly would! PS – our stay was May 17th through May 21st, 2026."
"Ideal location for island exploring and an amazing view for evenings and early mornings. We had two young kids and the stay was perfect for a family of 4. Even though the building was undergoing renovations during the stay, the disruption was minimal for our unit."
"House was perfect for our trip of 8. Upstairs was perfect area for the older kids. Awesome beach access, although bring water shoes due to the reef. Much more relaxed side of the island, people are very nice and friendly. Lots to do, if you get out to explore the area. Would definitely stay at this property again. The process was great start to finish and communication with any issue was addressed quickly."
"This property was ideal for my husband and me: gorgeous views, a location away from the bustle of Honolulu, and a comfortable, well-supplied home base to rest and relax. It was a bonus that there was beach equipment including snorkeling gear at the home for our use. At low tide you can go way out from shore and still only be in 3-foot deep water. We also were able to rent a kayak less than 10 minutes south. We rented this cottage at a discount due to the ongoing construction, but would have paid more for such a great place!"
"Cooling breeze from trade winds, ocean view, plumeria flowers, rooster crow, birds singing, artwork by local artist, local neighbors, you get it all at Hina Hideaway. What you don't get is the bustle, the noise and traffic jam at Waikiki.Add to these, a well-equipped and well-stocked kitchen, a large lanai, a clean and beautifully decorated house with ocean arts, and a caring caretaker, then you have paradise. We left our heart there. Would return any time."
"The hospitality and accommodations could not be beat! Chris and Al were the most gracious and attentive hosts! This place has everything you need, and is a great location to everything we wanted to do. 10/10 would book again!!"
