2024 NEWS AND BEYOND: POOL CLOSURE NOTICE (ONE WEEK IN SEPTEMBER): The ENTIRE POOL AND DECK AREA will be CLOSED for TWO WEEKS beginning on the SECOND MONDAY of EVERY SEPTEMBER. Travelers, please make a note of this for future stays with us!
Hello 1st time Guests and Repeat Friends!!
Aloha and welcome to our beautiful, centrally air-conditioned OCEANFRONT 4th Floor condo (6 floors total) located in sunny Kihei (Maui). There are no other hidden fees or charges (parking and secured wireless internet are free) for the rental of this unit.
YOUR CONDO---Your non-smoking (balcony included!), elevator-accessible condo is full of amenities, including a washer and dryer, stove, cooktop, microwave, 46” LCD TV with cable, DVD player, free hi-speed wireless internet service, blender, free landline local phone service, and all of the usual kitchen appliances, coffee maker, toaster, dishes and silverware that you may need. There are fresh linens and soft bath towels, a couple of beach towels (see the front desk for beach chairs), a California King-sized bed to relax in along with stone top nightstands, and plenty of closet space (with a small safe) for all of your luggage. There is a pull-out ‘double-sized’ sofa in the living room that sleeps two people (Not as comfortable as a mattress. Please avoid sofa pull-out if you have back or sleep issues). Our preference is that if you have (4) adults in your party, you reserve a two-bedroom unit. Four people are welcome, but please do not leave a bad review that says the "sofa bed was not as good as a mattress". We know this, which is why we are telling you now. The bathroom includes a shower/tub, and a blow dryer (probably not as nice as yours but works well), and the bathroom is accessible from the main living room without disturbing the master bedroom (sliding door partition). Make your way to your own private lanai/balcony and listen to waves crashing against the beach just below as you sip your favorite beverage. Enjoy!
SUGAR BEACH RESORT---Located less than 10 miles from the airport, Kihei is centrally located to all of your destinations on Maui. Check-in is after 4 pm and check-out is at 10 am. Arriving late? No problem. We will send you a door code before you arrive via email. Next door is an activity center (and a fully stocked general store) where island guides will introduce you to snorkeling, horseback riding, golf, hiking, luaus, Harley rentals (our fav), romantic cruises, and sport fishing just to name a few of the activities. The grocery stores are close by and Maui even has a COSTCO and a WALMART (great prices). Stop by the on-site bar and sandwich shop and try one of their margaritas or order from their complete menus. There is also an on-site spa/salon that offers relaxing massages by a licensed professional.
The grounds are beautiful, full of vegetation, flowers and palm trees. There are plenty of lounge chairs on the property, covered parking (free to guests), and tennis courts. The centrally located pool is cleaned every night and includes a built-in Jacuzzi, sauna and wading pool for the kids. The beach is the longest uninterrupted beach in all of Hawaii!! The sand is golden-yellow, soft, and is excellent for romantic walks at night or an early morning stroll/jog. The waves make excellent body surfing with your boogie board too (see front desk for snorkeling equipment and boogie boards rentals). At night, the light sounds of the waves will hypnotically send you into a deep and tranquil sleep and you will wake up with renewed energy ready to seize the day!
CANCELLATION AND RESERVATION POLICY---
1.) Your reservation is 100% refundable (less a 3% cancellation fee) for all cancellations GREATER than 90 days prior to your date of arrival.
2.) ALL SALES ARE FINAL LESS THAN 90 DAYS FROM YOUR ARRIVAL DATE. If you wish to cancel LESS THAN 90 days from your arrival date, there are NO REFUNDS. Please get renter's insurance to mitigate that risk.
3.) There are NO REFUNDS for bad weather (or other acts of nature, man-made or otherwise). This includes, but not limited to, the alleged loud-talking guests next door, the fact that you "never saw a whale" while you were in Hawaii, or you found some seaweed on the beach and it looked gross, global pandemics, you didn't know it would be this 'sunny and hot', the sudden announcement that your daughter is expecting (congrats by the way!), missing/canceled flights, your spouse is driving you nuts, or if you suddenly become ill and cannot come to (or stay in) Hawaii. These are the top reasons we have received over the years, but our policy is clear. There are NO REFUNDS < 90 days from the arrival date....UNLESS YOU BUY RENTERS' INSURANCE!
RENTERS' INSURANCE---Everyone gets it. Why aren't you? We make NO money and receive NO benefit by asking you to make the sensible choice. Our cancellation policy is FIRM and CLEAR. What if you break your leg? Death in the family? We will not give you a refund less than 90 days from check-in. Protect yourself AND your family!! NOTE: This renter's insurance is NOT the same as the damage waiver added when you book with VRBO for this unit ($1,500 coverage).
PLEASE NOTE: In another part of this ad for our unit on VRBO, it states there are "NO REFUNDS". That is NOT TRUE. You get a 100% refund if you cancel GREATER than 90 days from your arrival date. VRBO made us choose one policy and none of their choices fit our custom policy. We have called VRBO and so far the wording has not been 'fixed' to reflect our true cancellation policy. We are very sorry. As owners, we promise to be upfront, transparent, honest and to the point on all of our rates and policies. Our repeat clients are like family to us and we have worked very hard to be straight and true with everyone. We hope this sets the record straight.
Full payment is required at the time the reservation is booked and we require a (3) night minimum stay. The maximum occupancy is (4) people in our condo.
RENTER'S INSURANCE (2nd attempt to convince you)---Please consider getting renter's insurance. We cannot stress this enough. Most people book our unit months in advance and sometimes life throws you a curveball. Do not be caught paying for a condo that you cannot use due to illness, the birth of a loved one or economic hardship. For a small amount of money, it is worth the piece if mind. Did we convince you yet?
You will be financially liable/responsible for any damages/accidents that occur during your stay. If you accidentally break something, please contact us and take financial responsibility. Accidents happen, so please consider doing the right thing and assume financial responsibility. You will always be treated with respect and kindness.
CHECKOUT TIME IS AT 10AM--NO EXCEPTIONS (SORRY!): The management of the complex informed the owners that they are mandating a 10 am (Hawaii time, obviously) checkout. There are no late checkouts available at this time due to the fact that the units take, on average, over 4 hours to clean. MOST travelers rent a car and spend the day touring the island before their flight OR they may lounge at our pool, order food and drinks, etc (or do both!). There are public bathrooms to change in and you are welcome to use them even though you have officially checked out. Still, others pay for an extra day in the unit for late evening flights if you choose to spend time in the condo. Which option works best for you?
AFTER you check-in and check-out, send us an email. Let us know you are being treated with kindness and respect. If there are maintenance issues (for example) please call the local island agent that we have working for us (see welcome packet I sent to you AFTER you book with us). No problem. She is a great unit manager and bills us for her time, not you. We want everything just right so that when you leave you are completely satisfied. We would be happy to call/email you directly and answer any questions that you may have regarding our unit.

PS: Lahaina Wildfires Update: Hello future guests. All of us are shattered by the lives lost and those who are still living who have been immeasurably damaged by the catastrophic destruction of the wildfires that destroyed Lahaina. Many have lost their homes, all of their possessions, the lives of their families and friends, and even their way of making a livable wage to feed their families. None of the other cities (thankfully) have been affected and all businesses, hotels, attractions, and all of the activities you have come to love are up and running. So please, spend your money and tip generously when you visit. The beauty of Maui is abundant and I promise you, Maui will come back better than ever. Also, 1.) Please do not travel to Lahaina to take pictures/videos of the destruction. This offends the people of Maui and many view this behavior as offensive and patronizing. 2.) Please consider a donation to the RED CROSS or other legitimate charities of your choice to assist our brothers and sisters in their time of need. Thank you.
