Such a fun stay!

Wayfarer’s Rest sooo relaxing

Perfect house for a Perfect week.

Obx a beautiful place to vacation

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We really liked the house. But it does need some changes..the shower is 24"x31".. not a good experience to shower in. A stackable w/d up stairs would be great. Especially for seniors. Updated photo would have shown that the dune was much larger than current photos. You cannot see beach...the house, itself, is comfortable. A recliner would have been so nice. We had a good time, despite the cold windy weather. We have rented many houses here. From 1-10, I rate it a 8...

Not what I expected

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Really in need of an update ESPECIALLY the shower. The internet was sporadic and on the last two days the tv didn’t work. Repairmen were quick to respond but finally decided it was the tv after fixing the internet problem. Said they would contact the office to get us a new tv. Never saw or heard from anyone again. The shower is ridiculous, most closets are bigger. Kitchen chairs need replaced. All in all for what you spend on the rental I would stay elsewhere

The internet was so slow we could not watch television without constant buffering. The carpet was filthy and the shower so small it was hard to turn around. We had great weather and the beach was awesome but the house was a disappointment.

The TV viewing wasn't so great. Streaming instead of cable so no local channels & the TV would freeze or completely turn off at times. We spent a day in Manteo. Went to The Christmas Shop, browsed some little stores, ate ice cream at Big Bucks (yummy!) & finished the day with a sunset cruise on the Crystal Dawn. Would recommend Miller's, Tale of the Whale & Jolly Rogers restaurants, also American Pie for pizza & ice cream.

Not much of a ocean view!

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The outside pictures of this home need to be updated. The property around the house looks nothing like the pictures. You pay for being on the beach but the ocean view is blocked by the sand dune so there is not much to see when sitting on the back porch. Also the greenery around the house is so overgrown that it is all around the stairs to go into the house plus growing into the back porch area. There are no screens on the back porch. The shower inside the house is smaller than the ones you find on a cruise ship. Thank goodness there was an outdoor shower to use but it was very awkward to get to from the back of the house if you were coming off the beach and full of sand. You had to bend over when walking under the house. Otherwise, you would have to go through the house and down the stairs to get to the shower which makes a mess in the house. The best part of the house was that the central air worked perfectly. It kept the house nice and cool. Unfortunately, there is no ocean view from any of the windows. The bedrooms face the beach road which is very noisy at night. The other issue was that each bedroom should have a television. I would probably not stay here again because you pay for beach front but there are no views of the beach. Most importantly, the photos need to be updated on the website because what you see in the photos is not what you pay for. It is very deceptive and disappointing.

Not what we hoped for

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The beach is lovely, this house sits on a quieter stretch. Only 1 roll of complementary toilet paper was left for 2 bathrooms and that was it. Not even 1 coffee filter was provided, nor was any salt and pepper. Every other house we've rented over the last 30 years has provided those things. The toilet in one bathroom ran almost non-stop, the outdoor shower was more like a fountain with a faulty shower head, the water did not drain away in the outdoor shower so you stayed ankle deep the whole time. For the money there are many better rentals in the immediate area.

Super Location!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My family group of 4 adults and a child just returned home after a lovely week's stay at Wayfarer's Rest. Overall, we had a wonderful experience. The number one reason to recommend this cottage is its IDEAL waterfront location in Kitty Hawk, a short, sandy walk over a little dune to an almost private-feeling beach spot. Visitors will absolutely love the covered porch with perfect beach views! Everyone drank coffee or watched the dolphins at sunrise from that porch. Our weather, minus one even of thunderstorms, was perfect all week. The property was accurately described by Beach Realty and in prior visitors' reviews. We knew there was no dishwasher, so we brought plenty of paper plates and cups. The shower was extremely tight for all of us, my 6'8" husband couldn't fit inside, so we made use of the enclosed outdoor shower. The only warning we'd give to folks is to bring earplugs to wear on the nights when trash is collected at 3:30 am, as the bedrooms face the street. The wifi worked well for our phones and devices, but was too slow to allow streaming or t.v. When notified, Beach Realty reached out quickly. We ended up not watching t.v. anyway because every day was spent on the beach or at nearby attractions, such as Avalon Pier for fishing, or our favorite casual dinner spots, like Awful Arthur's. Everything visitors need is nearby and the Beach Realty app helped make check-in and our check-out easy.

Thanks for the easy stay. Code entrance for easy check in. Beautiful view of the beach from the porch with easy beach access. Would stay again if I'm back in the area. Worst thing was the wifi was spotty but cell service worked just fine.

still-off season getaway

Reviewer Comments: Property description is accurate for amenities included, private back porch overlooking dune/ocean, no public beach access on either side of house(so quiet beach section, perfect for watching sunrises). We opted to bring our own linens, but owners did provide pillows and lightweight blankets/comforters for each bed, pot holders and a few kitchen towels. Perfect location at MP 3.5, not far from restaurants north/south on "beach road" and "main road", close enough to bike to Wright Memorial, Jockey's Ridge, and a few grocery stores. We did hear traffic (and garbage truck at 3am) from road as the 2 main bedrooms face the street, but would be a lot louder during summer season. Perfect size for 2-4 adults, or max of 6 people if have smaller kids...remember only 1.5 baths and an outdoor shower underneath house. Would be helpful to have a dish basin to put on porch to wash off feet from sand if coming up back steps to porch into house.
