Private treetop suite in Kitty Hawk Coastal Preserve

My suite is located 5 minutes past Wright Memorial Bridge. Uniquely situated in a coastal preserve adjacent to a multi use path that will take you anywhere within Kitty Hawk, Duck or Kill Devil Hills. If you love biking, kayaking, surfing or just love nature this is the spot for you! A flight of stairs leads you to a private deck and entrance to an airy and spacious suite with everything you need to rest up for your daily adventures here on the beautiful Outer Banks. Byrd street beach access in Kitty Hawk is less than a ten minute drive with plenty of parking. All shopping and dining options are within a short bike ride or drive. We hope you enjoy the convenience and peace that our Bluebird Suite offers.

  • One of the northernmost towns along the coast in North Carolina, Duck is an idyllic town on the shores of the Currituck Sound. This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The property's location was perfectly situated. The property itself was immaculately clean and comfortable well-equipped with all necessary amenities, including kitchen dishes and bathroom essentials. The hostess was exceptional, accommodating our request to change dates on short notice. She also provided valuable recommendations for local dining, attractions, and general knowledge of the area. This place not only met our expectations, it exceeded them. Very quiet neighborhood that is convenient to all things OBX. This was our first ever visit to the outer banks and this was the perfect spot for us to stay. My wife loved how comfortable and clean the place was! Colleen was very helpful and was so right about her recommendations for food! We will definitely stay here again if we make our way back to OBX.

Comfy, cozy, great location

Perfect for just me! Easy access to the beach and main road for restaurantsand activities, about 2.7 miles, on bike or drive. The room is tasteful,comfortable and a nice size. It was well equipped. Colleen was super responsive and kind. I will warn you that if you like long, hot showets that you'll be disappointed. You'll get about 5 minutes but that wouldn't stop me from staying again. Thank you so much!

Perfect eacape

We were looking for a place to just unwind and relax while the whole family was in the OBX. This little place fit the bill. The hostess was exceptional and allowed us to come and go without any issues. The room was comfortable, clean and just what we needed. We got to enjoy the family during the day, and then get away to relax on our own afterwards. Will definitely be going back again next year. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

The Bluebird Suite was a great place to stay in the OBX for a couple who want to be away from the hustle and bustle of the beachfront, but yet only a few minutes drive to the beach, restaurants and other attractions that the OBX has to offer! Wonderful Place to Stay in Kitty Hawk, NC

Property and host were great. This is a perfect place to stay for a quick trip to the beach. It was quiet, clean and host was so welcoming. There were some really interesting walks through the Reserve, so you can come to the beach, enjoy the beach and enjoy the woods.

Great Stay, Great Host

Property was as advertised yet more than we expected. Colleen’s attention to detail in preparing the suite is amazing. We loved he location for its privacy as well as the quick access to beach, restaurants, and other points of interest. This was our fist trip to OBX but it will not be our last and we’ll certainly stay at the Bluebird Suite when we return!
