"The room, the staff, the private onsen, and the Kaiseki dinner were all amazing. The staff welcomed us in from the cold, took care of our bags, set us up with our own boots for the snow, and taught us how to tie up our yukata’s within minutes of arriving. It was an immersive experience that felt like a home away from home, and will forever be our favourite experience in Japan."
"Everything was done for a perfect stay, from the delicious food, the comfortable rooms, to the ideal location and delicate attentions. But most of all, the personnel who went above and beyond to make sure our stay was exceptional."
"Overall we had a very good experience. Excellent amenities. We drove, had valet parking & help carrying luggage to reception where slippers are provided. We had to carry our own luggage up a few steps & then down a few steps to our room. There isn't a spring water private onsen in the room, but you can reserve a private onsen for 40 minutes. Carpet tiles outside the onsens were heavily worn and ruined the integrity of the otherwise pleasant surroundings. A fixed menu for breakfast with a choice of fish. My travel partner was solo the first morning. I chose to not have breakfast the first day since I wanted to know what was served before. I asked to sit with him, but was not allowed. I understand they had rules and I respected that, but I had a feeling that management may have thought I was trying to take advantage of them and was not entitled to the privilege of sitting in their restaurant since I had not paid for breakfast. The next morning we both had breakfast, which was different than the first morning. It was well done and overall very tasty. There were a few choices for the dinner menu. There was beef, seafood and I believe a kaiseki set. We would have had dinner but I was told beef was 57000 yen, up to 65000 (~$360-$411 USD per person!)
The room was clean except a lamp by the door had dust in it. In the winter the shower room was cold. Despite some shortcomings, service was exceptional. It was one of our highlights in our Japan trip. Beautiful views. Dreamy and serene."
"The staff and amenities were top notch. We had a wonderful Kaiseki meal that will be a fond family memory for years to come. Thank you for such a memorable experience! "
"A reasonably priced ryokan in Kinosaki Onsen, which is tattoo tolerant. Very good breakfasts and dinner in traditional ryokan style. Very accommodating staff. Nice additions to their onsen area are sauna and outdoor cold plunge, not often found in Onsen. A bit of a hike from town but convenient free shuttle service. "
"Lovely family run ryokan with a comfortable room, but fairly basic. The food is amazing. Seriously make sure you save an appetite for this dinner especially. "
"Rooms are a bit dated but super clean and well maintained. Staff was awesome, and the breakfast was one of the best I've had at any hotel in Japan. Location is fairly remote, but extremely peaceful, and there are free shuttle busses into Toyooka. Onsen was pretty good and clean.
If you are looking for a relaxed time away from the typical tourist bustle, I can highly recommend this hotel. Most guests were elderly and extremely friendly, and it was completely silent at night."
