The barn conversion is located in a beautiful area surrounded by nothing but fields. We stayed in Beudy which is all on one level and was ideal for us with our dog. The property is spacious with two main bedrooms, a room with bunk beds and a kitchen/dining area. There is an en-suite bathroom/wet room to one main bedroom and a further bathroom with a shower over the bath. The kitchen was well equipped and the washer/dryer and dishwasher were very handy. There was a lovely welcome pack on arrival too.
Unfortunately there were many things broken or looking tired around the property. They included the shower screen in the separate bathroom did not fit properly onto the bath edge, the extractor fan did not work in the wet room, the outside front light did not work and had visibly been broken for some time. This caused us to be wondering about in the pitch black when taking our dog out at night as the torch supplied was useless. There was a broken, dog chewed dustpan and brush and the hairdryer only worked on full heat and power from the plug being on or off, the switch on the dryer was broken. They have replaced I presume a broken or missing dvd control with a new universal control but it wouldn’t link to the DVD player so you could only press the functions play or pause from the unit. The owners contact details were clearly available in the property guide for us to contact them about anything but in my eyes, these things should have been correct in the first place and we did not see the owners until 9am on our leaving day after our weeks stay. The most disappointing part for us was the condition of the back enclosed patio area. Although a hot tub was located here, it was an area you would not want to spend time in. There was a rather shabby, rusty and greened table and chairs and the state of the grey painted walls and the slabs were awful. As we’d seen, we were expecting little lights standing up along the wall, in reality we got there to broken (we presumed at one point solar lights) fallen down in an overgrown grassy mess. No pots, just a bare yard which desperately needs some TLC.
With regards to the area, there is a petrol station and a good shop within a mile or so and excellent roads into Aberaeron, New Quay and Aberystwyth to name but a few. There is a field opposite good for children or dogs but the picnic table seemed to have been dumped for some reason right down in a grassy corner so we didn’t use it.
When we booked the barn earlier this year, the rating was 5* which was then reduced to 4*. In our opinion, the property we stayed in is a nice 3*. The beautiful scenery and surrounding area could not be faulted.
