Rustic Updated Cabin in the Heart of the Appalachian High Country

  • Escape to our charming little cabin, nestled on 15 acres of rolling pastureland and Christmas tree fields in the serene foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Built in the 1940s as a tenant farmer’s home, this hidden gem sits quietly up the hill behind our big old farmhouse, offering privacy and tranquility. Relax on the porch, watch the birds, and stargaze under clear mountain skies.
Located in Ashe County, in North Carolina’s northwest corner near the Virginia line, you’re just minutes from adventure:

-15 minutes to Grayson Highlands State Park
-20 minutes to White Top Mountain, Mount Rogers, the Appalachian Trail, and the Virginia Creeper Bike Trail
-Steps away from Helton Creek, a local favorite for fishing, just across the road
-Short drives to the New River and New River State Park

For a taste of local culture, explore nearby West Jefferson—a quaint town with boutique shops, cafes, a cheese factory, brewery, and a small museum in the historic courthouse. Enjoy the Saturday farmers market or summer street festivals featuring old-time and bluegrass music. Boone, Blowing Rock, and the Blue Ridge Parkway are just an hour away.
Perfect for nature lovers, music enthusiasts, or anyone seeking a peaceful getaway, our cabin offers a slice of mountain life with all the comforts of home.

The property was just as the host described. Rustic but very clean throughout, all necessities were provided. Thank you for all the extra toiletries which were also provided. We only ate breakfast at the cabin with coffee and tea, but everything worked and was available. The cabin itself was very secluded with a very nice view of the woods and creek. We had a great visit, would return in the future.

I only had two nights at this adorable cabin, but it provided much needed relaxation and quiet time. I've experience three major losses in the past year and a half and desperately needed some "me time", which this space provided. Even though it rained during much of my visit, I was able to enjoy relaxing on the deck and sitting under the covered front portch watching my dog play in the front yard. The bed was comfy and cozy and the kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked. Can't wait until fall when I'll be able to stay longer and visit some of the local sites!

The location was perfect. Close to Grayson Highlands for hiking and recreation and close to West Jefferson for shops and restaurants. The cabin was amazing! We had absolutely everything we would have needed and more. We will definitely be keeping this place in mind for future stays in the area.

Great escape to the peace and quiet of the NC mtns. Cabin is stocked with everything you need and more. Watch the neighboring cows walk their path or watch the clouds move. Relax and enjoy. Hiking at Grayson Highlands is a must do if you like that activity. Would recommend to everyone. Rosemary's communication was great and appreciated. Fun time. 2nd time renter and will be back. I don't say that lightly either because we hardly ever rent the same place twice.

This house is an absolute dream! It is beautiful inside and out. The host has thought of every possible essential that you might have forgotten to pack, with beautiful bedrooms, clean bathrooms and an exceptionally well kitted out kitchen. If this is available… you need to book it!

This cozy cabin was charming. We were all impressed with how many amenities were available. The kitchen was nicely equipped with all the essentials for meal preparations. The fire-pit by the creek was a perfect ending after our busy outdoor days and a nice dinner on the deck. This was a great home base for all the hiking and outdoor adventures.Already considering a return to this area in the Fall!

Sweet small cabin in the woods. Big enough though! Space was roomy, host was great. Showers are a bit small, but expected. The furniture was a little small also, (just the couch and 2 chairs). Hubby's knees are bad, difficult to get up from, but rocker worked for him. Very clean and had everything we needed. Peaceful inside and out, private. We recommend and will stay again.
