Margaritaville Vacation Club - St. Thomas

"We just got back from 4 night stay. Overall, the resort was well appointed and the room was large. THE PROS: We particularly enjoyed the amazing views, multiple pools, swim up bar and the fact that a cart would take you all over the resort instead of walking long distances over a large property. We were a ten minute walk from Coki beach which was GORGEOUS and Coral World was right next door.The restaurant had a good menu, food was also available at the pool grill close to our room. They also had a cafe for basic grocery needs and some prepared foods with a few different options for souvenirs/gift shopping. The staff were pleasant and accommodating for whatever we needed. THE CONS: THE SARGASSUM (seaweed) that was constantly washing up in front of the hotel caused a terrible odor- YUCK- luckily we were on a high hill away from sea level, but as soon as you came down the hill it was terrible. Staff were constantly shoveling huge amounts into dumpsters and hauling away. It really affected our experience and ability to spend time at the sea level restaurant, pool and activities! There was no usable beach at the resort itself. The other con about this property would be the neighborhood directly outside of the resort which was very dirty, run down and sketchy. It was like being in 2 different worlds beyond the resort gates. Trash everywhere, extremely run down, poor roads and travel conditions. The other side of the island was much nicer with tons of shopping, better roads, etc."

"Our stay at Hawksbill Resort was nothing short of fantastic. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by the exceptionally friendly, attentive and professional staff who made us feel valued throughout our visit. Denise at the front desk was such a blessing to us. Remembering both our anniversary and my husbands birthday. Gerald down at the Towel/Sports Hut was also exceptional at making sure we had a terrific time out on the Hobi Cat, snorkeling, or enjoying the wave runner. He made sure we had everything we needed for an enjoyable day. The resort amenities were outstanding, providing everything needed for a relaxing and enjoyable getaway. Whether unwinding by the pool, dining at the restaurants, or simply takin in the peaceful atmosphere, every detail contributed to an unforgettable vacation. The location is absolutely breathtaking. Nestled along 4 stunning beaches are among the resort's greatest treasure-pristine, uncrowded, and perfect for swimming, snorkeling, sunbathing, or taking long, peaceful walks along the shore. Hawksbill Resort offers spectacular views and a tranquil setting that makes it easy to disconnect and recharge. Overall, Hawksbill exceeded our expectations in every way. The combination of exceptional staff, outstanding beach bungalows, a gorgeous location, and some of the most beautiful beaches we've ever experienced made for an unforgettable stay. We would highly recommend this resort and can't wait to return."

"The property was in an excellent location. Best location on the entire island with wonderful views of the ocean and watching the airplanes land. Great views from the 5th floor veranda. The food at the Hotel was expensive but pretty good. The food was better at both nearby restaurants. The SandBar and Sunset Bar and Grill were a step above and better priced. Tortuga which is located just a block or so on the other side was also excellent! The town of Maho also has a grocery store so you can stock up on essentials. Out of the 4 beaches we experienced on the Island, Mullet Bay Beach was by far the best. Better than Orient beach. The Arrow Restaurant on airport road was also excellent. I don't recommend renting a car as the roads are too narrow and traffic can be horrific. Taxis are cheap and plentiful. Bring $250 cash to pay for taxies over a 10 day period. Most rides are $15 to $25 one way. Taxis are new and very nice. Drivers are excellent and fun to talk to. Much cheaper and safer than renting a car. The staff at the front desk did not go out of their way to tell you about excursions on the island. We almost had to pry it out of them. It is best to select excursions at the hotel and have them pick you up and drop you off at the hotel so no need for a taxi. This was extremely helpful. I would recommend this hotel in a heartbeat. Next time we stay we will ask more questions at the desk regarding excursions and things to do."
