Lillooet Lake

We were en route to Kamloops when a weather-beaten sign for lakeside cabins caught our eye, so we veered off down a gravel road and found ourselves at the end of an alpine rainbow--Lillooet Lake Lodge. We ended up staying two days. Jacob and Elisabeth are wonderful hosts. Their rustic, lakeside cabins start at $89, camping at $30 (sparkling clean bathhouse and hot showers included). The views of the lake are unparalleled; excellent hiking, fishing and boating abound. Directions: From Pemberton, go north on 99/Portage Road to Mt. Currie. Take a right onto Lillooet Lake Road, then right onto Lillooet River Road. Stylish, Cozy Staycation with European Charm I stayed at Moda Hotel for a downtown staycation and really enjoyed the experience. The hotel has a charming, boutique feel that’s warm and inviting without trying too hard. The foyer is cozy, the staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming, and the overall atmosphere felt thoughtfully curated. I loved the European influence throughout the property, especially with Uva and Cibo right next door—it gives the hotel a distinctly continental vibe that’s rare in Vancouver. The location is fantastic for walking the city, and it feels like a great home base whether you’re visiting or simply enjoying a change of scenery. A lovely option for anyone who appreciates character-driven boutique hotels over big-box chains. I’d happily stay again. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
