A fabulous Tuscan experience

The property was stunning - beautifully landscaped with a spectacular pool and outdoor space. The villa was well maintained with modern conveniences. The owner, Mario, and the property manager were lovely and always available when needed. The conceirge company was convenient and responsive. We had a magical time and would be delighted to return again next year!

Excellent Villa!

This villa is amazing. The grounds are manicured extensively and the villa is setup really well for large groups and has plenty of space. We had a group of 9, with 4 kids. The grounds gave the kids plenty of room to run and play and swim. The location is great a well. Central to many great areas and close to anything you could want or need. But, most of all the hospitality shown by Mario and Gino was impeccable. They truly care about making sure their guests are comfortable in their stay.

Amazing family stay and this beautiful estate

What an extraordinary experience at this remarkable and authentic estate! We were captivated by the distinctive accommodations, from the expansive and meticulously maintained grounds to the comfort and modern amenities within this 13th-century gem brimming with historic charm. The location is ideal for a Tuscan vacation, conveniently near the charming town of Lucca and just a 30-minute drive from Pisa, as well as numerous wineries, restaurants, and attractions. We highly recommend it! The extra bedroom in the upstairs living room smells like cigarette smoke

Lucca Visit’

We were in Lucca for a wedding and loved staying at Villa Hugo. The villa is quiet and centrally located. The rooms and decor are excellent. Mario the owner and Angelica from the property management company were very helpful and friendly. We would definitely return if the opportunity presented itself.

Villa Hugo was a great location for us

Villa Hugo was a great location for our girls trip. We were able to do day trips to surrounding areas easily. And it was a fabulous place to start and end our days. It’s very tranquil with beautiful view, birds singing, and we were lucky to have good weather.

We had a fabulous 8 days staying at Villa Hugo, the grounds are pristine and very private. Hiring a car is a must if you want to get around Lucca. We absolutely recommend this villa and Lucca is such a wonderful part of Italy. We will be back ! Sue and family

Dream stay at Villa Hugo

Everything was like living in a dream of Italian culture and sophistication. Beautiful gardens, fresh herbs and olive oil, every detail was perfect. The Villa was very beautiful and clean and lived up to the pictures and video and then some. The host very welcoming. We were 4 couples and everyone loved it. All 8 of us would highly recommend this Villa, Lucca also was an amazing City to visit. My only suggestion is for Lucca Apartments totheir guidebook because some of the information is outdated. Instructions for how to use the induction stove would also be helpful.

Wonderful stay at Villa Hugo

Just back home after a wonderful stay at Villa Hugo with my family. We rented the villa for a two week holiday to celebrate my mum & dad’s 60th birthday. The villa itself is so beautiful, the room’s are so spacious and grand, the grounds are stunning as is the pool area. The seating areas are also lovely & comfortable. Beautiful decor throughout the villa. I would recommend to rent a car in advance when staying at this villa. We didnt, and we were unable to get one after arriving. We did get a quote from one company for two cars for 1 week which was over £2000. Which is so expensive! So we did not go ahead with that car hire company. It was around a 20 min walk to the local train station, where you can get into Lucca in 10 mins which is very handy and what we ended up using to get into Lucca a lot of the time. We found it a little difficult getting Taxi’s on our first night and first few days from the villa to supermarkets / Lucca. After being there a few days we worked out to download the local Lucca Taxi app that helped us massively. So i would recommend using this, the app is called ‘apptaxi’ The villa itself does not have too much around the local area. We found a small shop around a 20 min walk away, along with a little coffee shop and local restaurant. We loved visiting Lucca. Its such a beautiful city, and we also visited Florence for the day via train, and went on a boat trip to see the Cinque Terre. We also did a day trip to Pisa for the boat race on the river. The trains are great in Italy and such reasonable prices too. If you are thinking about booking a holiday here, do it! You will have a great time and make amazing memories! Only advice would be to pre book a car (for convenience of supermarket runs and visiting areas you cannot get to via train) and also using the cab app to easily access taxi’s

Beautiful Villa

Beautiful villa with everything you need, Nadia is amazing help with anything from taxis to booking boat trips etc. the house is incredible - the nicest Airbnb I have ever rented. We will 100% be back. Very close to Lucca in the car, 40 minutes from beautiful beaches at forte di Marmi. Each bedroom was so lovely and the decor is very nice

Tuscan luxury

An absolutely wonderful house on the outskirts of Lucca town. A very tastefully renovated house from the 13th century. Exquisite garden or should I rather say a private park behind a 2,5 meter high wall, surrounding the property. Modern facilities of a very high standard, yet the old style has been kept intact throughout the house. Excellent recreation areas outside, everything from the bbq spot to the patio and of course the pool area (salt water pool). The city of Lucca with shopping and restaurants is only a 10-15 minute trip by taxi. At this house one can really enjoy a nice vacation. Absolutely recommended!

A dream villa…

Wow! it was just great in villa hugo. our stay passed too quickly! You can relax soooo much in the garden and at the great pool. Also the bedrooms couldn't have been better. each room had its own bathroom. this is ideal for a larger group. we felt so comfortable. thank you mario and maria !!! Emotional Holiday!

It was wonderful in the Villa Hugo. We felt far removed from reality in another century - like three princesses in their elegant castle. We loved preparing meals in the great kitchen and then eating on the grandiose verandain the cozy kitchen. The whole house has been wonderfully and stylishly renovated and furnished by the friendly owners. We really enjoyed the huge bathrooms and taking a bubble bath in the royal bathtub was a pleasure. The incredibly large park with the beautiful pool - surrounded by the old curtain wall - was great. Every day we hoped that the lovable dog of the owner - Hugo - would come to visit us and we could stroke him. We were able to practice our yoga in the garden and in the huge light blue bedroom ( (Website hidden by Airbnb) Saying goodbye is not easy for us and every day we rave about the unforgettable days at Villa Hugo. Excellent in every way!

We loved our stay at Villa Hugo. Everything was exactly like on the pictures - even better :) It is placed around 10 minutes by car away from the historical part of Lucca, in an industrial area - but we felt absolutely safe. The property owner which lives on the other side of the Villa was super helpful and friendly. We can highly recommend Villa Hugo.

The Villa is beautiful, especially the big garden and the pool are amazing and perfect for a longer stay. The location is great too and the owner + host are very kind and supportive. Cannot think of anything which could be better. I absolutely recommend this place!

Can not recommend Villa Hugo enough!

The rooms are exactly as shown (if not better) and the backyard is expansive and beautiful. We had so many glorious dinners out on the terrace and there are wonderful chefs you can hire to come to the property - we LOVED this. The touches around the house truly make the place feel like a home away from home. The owners (who live on the other side of the house) are incredibly sweet and wonderful - we were so happy to get to know them and their big sweet dog Hugo!! We never wanted to leave this property and we cannot wait to be back. Thank you so much Mario!
