Lovely 9 days in the Béarn area

Nicely renovated old farm house, separated into two gîtes. We stayed in the smaller of the two for six people. Comfortable bedrooms and well equipped kitchen. Hosts Helene and Albert very friendly and helpful.

Excellentes prestations

Nous avons passé une semaine en famille dans le gite d'Helene et Albert. Après un accueil chaleureux, nous avons decouvert puis apprécié cet ancien corps de ferme rénové avec finesse et modernité tout en conservant le charme de l'ancien. Le lieu est très élégant et reposant, ideal pour lacher prise et s'immerger dans la belle nature environnante. Hélène et Albert sont des hôtes parfaits, tant dicrets que disponibles et riches de précieux conseils. Je recommande fortement ce gîte.

Très bon séjour chez Albert et Hélène, le logement est très agréable et les propriétaires fort sympathiques et réactifs, avec de très bonnes adresses pour le fromage et le jurançon.

Lovely house in rural location

We enjoyed a very pleasant week here. The owners live on site and were extremely hospitable - we enjoyed some delicious homegrown vegetables! It should also be said that they were not in any way intrusive and left us to enjoy ourselves. The house is full of character with a well-equipped kitchen. The living space comprises a large dining table which can easily seat 8, a 3-seater sofa and a day-bed. The weather was good when we stayed and we were out most days, but it would have been nice to have some additional comfortable seating space, as with 6 of us it was tricky. There is a TV with satellite, but we didn't use this. WiFi is available, but it is very slow (as you might expect in a rural location). There are two double rooms and two twin rooms. One double has an en-suite shower room and toilet. This room is light and has nice views. The second double has an adjoining shower room with twin sinks, but this isn't really an en-suite since it also has a door onto the main hallway and is the only other bathroom. The toilet is separate. This double room faces an internal courtyard and as such is a bit dark. The first twin room is light and airy with a nice view from the window. The second twin room adjoins the first and has no exterior window. So, whilst the property can sleep 8, it will very much depend on the make-up of the group as to whether this is appropriate for you or not. All the beds were comfortable and we got a good night's sleep. A little more storage would be helpful. The swimming pool is at the rear of the property and is shared, though we never saw anyone else using it. I personally found the chemicals a little too strong, but our boys made good use of it! A car is essential, but the accommodation is within 10 minutes (by car) of Oloron-Ste-Marie, which is a big town with supermarkets. Days out in the Pyrenees are within easy reach and the views are fantastic. The owners have an adorable and extremely well-trained dog, that visited us each day (but never came inside and didn't beg for food) - we grew quite attached! I always try to provide an honest and helpful review for other travellers. Remember, no property is perfect. This one has its drawbacks, but is of a very good standard and we enjoyed our time here. I think it is predominantly let to French and Spanish speakers, as there is no printed information in English. The owners speak enough English, and we didn't have any problem.

Campagne, découverte du Béarn et son vignoble , randonnées et baignades

Chez Hélène et Albert, tout est mis en oeuvre pour que vous vous sentiez comme à la maison. Leur accueil est chaleureux et ils sont toujours disponibles pour vous aiguiller sur de belles activités et lieux à visiter. Le gîte est spacieux, bien équipé et très propre. La piscine est fantastique car elle permet aux petits (comme aux grands ) de se baigner même si le temps ne s'y prête pas. C'est avec grand plaisir que nous reviendrons chez eux. Famille Sellès

Vacances entre amis !!!

Nous étions 2 familles dans ce logement très simpas et bien agencé, la piscine couverte et chauffée est un gros plus pour les jours pluvieux, et les propriétaires sont très gentils et disponible si besoin.

Un sitio fantástico para pasar unos días de vacaciones

Estuvimos con unos amigos pasando unos días de vacaciones para desconectar, y cumplió con todas nuestras espectativas. Buscamos y encontramos una bella casa en medio del campo, tranquila y bien comunicada en la región del vino juranson, entre sus verdes colinas con frondosos bosques y viñedos. Un sitio para repetir en verano. Nos vemos pronto!!!!

Agréable séjour au calme

Accueil chaleureux maison vaste et bien équipée Les propriétaires sont d'excellents conseils Les animaux adorables Seul le temps n'a pas été complètement de la partie mais les vins ont largement compensés L'accueil a été le même chez les vignerons indiqués Seule petite restriction, les 2 chambres qui communiquent ne sont pas très pratiques pour 8 adultes sinon pour le reste rien à redire.

Gîte idéal (propre, bien équipé) dans un environnement agréable et des hotes disponibles

10ème gîte en 10 ans et clairement le mieux. Au calme, dans la campagne béarnaise, gîte parfaitement équipé et décoré avec beaucoup de gout. Les propriétaires sont aussi discrets que sympathiques. Cerise sur le gâteau la piscine chauffée et couverte si besoin + la compagnie de Lili, adorable chienne.

Très belle location, qui correspond aux photos. Excellent accueil, les propriétaires sont très a l'écoute et très réactifs quant aux demandes. Belle découverte de la région. La découverte du vin du Jurançon est une très belle initiative qui permet de découvrir de petits viticulteurs et de très bons vins. Merci encore a eux ( tout particulièrement Christian qui nous a bcp touché avec son histoire) pour leur accueil et pour la transmission de leur passion . Nous conseillons très fortement

French Country Oasis w/ Lovely Hosts

Stayed one week in July 2018 with another American couple. Hosts Helene and Albert were absolutely charming, offered us fresh eggs from their chickens, veggies from the garden and a local wine. House has three bedrooms and two baths -- would be great to use the middle bedroom (which we did not need) for a 'kids' dorm,' as it has two connected rooms with a total of four single beds. Pool is the highlight! Sliding, modular steel-and-glass 'greenhouse' covers a large rectangular pool. Relax in a lounge chair with corn fields and the Pyrenees in the distance. Note that stores/bakery are a 10-15 minute drive to Oloron, but 'bread lady' in a car delivers 3X per week.

A holiday in the beautiful Pyrennes-Atlantique countryside

We all enjoyed our stay very much in the lovely Lucq de Bearn farmhouse, and the surrounding countryside, and small villages were very beautiful. As we all love to cook, the local markets were wonderful , with lovely produce, chickens, pate de foie, cheeses, honeys, fruits & vegetables....and the wines. We also made excursions into the mountains, where we bought trout from a farm & duck confit from a duck farm. It was great fun & always an adventure for the next meal. The facilities we perfect at the farmhouse, nice kitchen, dining inside or out, the barbecue, the pool, which was nice for our little grandson, the vegetable garden for herbs etc, the bedrooms and the lovely ambience of the house & garden. The owners were very helpful and friendly.....the week went too quickly!!! Thank you, Jan & Robin Frölich, and family.
