Wow, my first 4 Stars in Years, which will not help my standings in the search algorithms, but I guess I should be happy, as I knew this guest would be a hard one to satisfy. When she first inquired, she said they were a party of 5 that would be cooking Thanksgiving dinner at our home, “so kitchen amenities as well as ample room to gather for our meals is important to us.” She inquired if the dining room really seats 14 (we have two leaf's that can be added), was it “possible to have an earlier check-in time than 5 pm”, which I granted an early check in and late check out as it wasn’t the high season. Although VRBO publishes and our guests acknowledge the house rules when they book, she tells me, “My husband is a judge who deals with lots of contracts and he would probably be mad at me if I didn’t get everything documented and signed” and insisted that we print out the rules and both sign them. Fine, anything to make her comfortable. Then the questions kept coming, “Washer/dryer/iron/ironing board are mentioned in your listing. Just want to make sure they are all in working order, as I am that person who does laundry and irons clothes while on vacation.” Who irons on vacation? Yes, they all work. “My husband wants me to confirm there is still a working Keurig, as we intend to bring K-cups with us.” Yes, the Keurig is in good working order. “I have read reviews that state well stocked kitchen, but since I am preparing our Thanksgiving meal I just wanted to verify that there is a roasting pan for the turkey as well as a tall stock pot for boiling potatoes/pasta. What about an electric mixer & electric knife? Are there basic spices or do I need to bring?” I called her from the house and went over all the items in our kitchen, as it would have taken too long type replies. We do not supply basic spices due to Covid, we have several large pyrex pans that should accommodate a party of 5 (more actually as the house sleeps 14 people) but if you want to be safe, maybe you should bring your favorite one. The last question was the best, “are their hangers in the closets?” Really? Yes, there are hangers in every closet. So thank you dear guest for your kind advise in your Review. I will replace the toaster with a newer toaster oven, sorry but the basement refrigerator is for our personal items when we come up to use our home when we are not sharing it with our guests, next time I am up I will bring out knife sharpener and ensure the cutlery is improved, I am sorry that you didn’t feel our living room/dining area was big enough for your 5 person party and that our abundant frying pans and pots have lose handle (it’s a second home so I don’t have Williams and Sonoma, Cuisinart or All-Clad). I guess if I get four stars from this guest, I think my average guest will have a 10 Star experience.
