Beautiful upmarket hotel steeped in history. Attractive decor, welcoming staff. Our king size deluxe roomand bathroom were lovely and spacious but unfortunately the view out the windows was of a small inner roof and other inward looking toom windows. The breakfast was good with plenty of choices. Busy lifts at check out time meant we had to wait at least 5 min for a space in one. The hotel was very convenient for the city centre and for the whole tram network.

Beautifully decorated Hotel. The Suites are sizeable and the staff do try hard to please. Breakfast buffet has plenty of variety and tasty! The Spa itself is cozy but splendid and the treatments are definitely some of the best to be had.

I loved the timeless sense of grandeur and history of the hotel. The first impressions of the walk-in to reception were impressive. The young university students on reception were incredibly engaging and helpful.

I think this property needs work and attention to be classed as VIP/4-5 Star. The main thing for me was cleanliness and attention to detail. Within my room, there was black mould on the shower head. In the spa, the “thermal” shower head was coated in black mould as well and that made me question the entire cleanliness of the spa such as the sauna and steam room - they also do not provide any robes nor slippers to cover your body/feet. The hallways, doors, and bathrooms within the hotel are very dated and the carpets are all dirty and aged. The lobby feels like you are entering a prestigious hotel, but there is a lack of attention to the guest experience and ensuring comfort. Personally, I cannot stay in a hotel where the cleanliness is an issue.

Having experienced a few issues the hotel management spoke to me and I must say I was very impressed with how they handled things. Some people stood out especially the concierge, Bev in the breakfast room. Abdul on the night shift, Tom and Holly on the management team.

Wonderful stay as always at the Midland but be aware! Receptionist in the spa insisted that you must book to use the pool or gym! Although we are post COVID I’ve never had to book to use the leisure facilities but they were adamant. Checked on the website and nothing is mentioned about having to book to use the pool. Hotel reception check in and out was exceptional as were the bar and restaurant staff who couldn’t do enough for you….sadly let down on the experience in the spa but will be back.

Every guest is eligible for a 1-hour complimentary access to the Rena Spa facilities, subject to their availability. Guaranteed time in the Spa is only secured if part of Spa packages. This is a service used by both external and hotel guests and its availability can be very limited on busy days, which is why it is available for 1 hour and only after you check in. I do apologize if this was not communicated effectively by my colleagues whilst you were being served on the day and I shall definitely share this with their Manager so that they issue further training.Looking forward to having you over again,

Lovely 5 star hotel. Awesome breakfast and posh looking room. My single bed and the chairs not soft though. No extractor or loo brush in bathroom. Double yellows outside not east to drop off luggage, guests. Suggest a Drop off zone, like other posh hotels have. Very helpful staff. Overall would stay again.

Even though it has recently been refurbished there was mould all over the bathroom and the shower tray didn’t drain. The Elmiss products were nice though. The net curtains were filthy and the room was dusty although it was well stocked. The bed was comfy but communication off the staff wasn’t great so we missed breakfast. When I rang for room service I was told I was to have put my request in via door hanger before 2. I told him I wasn’t told that even though I mentioned I wanted breakfast to my room when I checked in. He said it was explained on the welcome letter, It wasn’t! We were overall disappointed with our stay and won’t choose The Midland again.

I booked this hotel on a Friday for a Saturday night. When it was check in time we got told the spa was fully booked for the day and we could not use the facilities. This should be stated before booking the hotel as we solely booked to stay here for the spa
