Thankfully, the owner responded even at the late hour, and it turns out you have to wait 15+ minutes for the heat to even kick on. It took hours to heat up the place - pretty unacceptable in the middle of winter when you know people are arriving to the lodging that day. "But why didn't you just use the fireplace?"
