Excellent situation right in front of the Turner Contemporary and minutes from the beach and shops. Discreet but helpful and attentive staff. Loved the room amenities and amazing bay views, as well as the roof terrace. Lovely breakfast + great service at dinner. We had wanted to stay at Fort Road for a while and have not been disappointed !

I had a room on the top floor. It was bright, spacious, clean and it had a great view. I was grateful for the AC in my unit because it was so hot in Margate when I was there. The continental breakfast delicious, lots of choice, the coffee was great and it was included. LOVED IT. Great location right beside the Turner Museum and a short walk to Cliftonville.

The superior room was excellent: very spacious and well designed. The fact someone had thought to include a dressing table area and it had a mirror, a light, a seat and a plug socket was a welcome change from the norm. Lots of good light, excellent air con, super bathroom and comfy bed. The continental breakfast that is included is a definite cut above average and would easily be worth paying for were it not included. We will definitely stay again.

Pros: Beautiful clean room. Lovely soft bedding and nice touches such as fresh cookies on arrival, ice and fresh coffee. Cons: The lift was out of service when we were there which was a pain when wanting to take a drink to the roof terrace and general coming and going. Some of the information in the guide book they provide is out of date. The sink and bath taps were loose. Would have preferred a hot breakfast included in the premium price we paid. You can park in the Britannia car park nearby and pay the hotel, this info isn’t provided on their website.

The staff were very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The room was clean and well organised to suit any guests needs. The bed was very comfortable. There was no TV. The continental breakfast included in price was exceptional, with a good selection of local produce and very tasty home made granola. Other cooked breakfast options were available at a cost. Parking was available locally at a reasonable fee and supported by the hotel. The location was ideal, opposite Turners Contemporary Gallery, so close to the beach. Good views from room and from a rooftop seating area. Would definately go back there.

Fort Road Hotel Delivers Style and Comfort

We really enjoyed our stay at the Fort Road Hotel. The room was lovely and the hotel has a great look and feel with beautiful art throughout. Fantastic location near the Turner and lots of great restaurants. The only small downside was not being told much about amenities like bar hours, the rooftop (which was closed), or how breakfast works. Otherwise, everything was great and we’d definitely stay again.

A delightful hotel finished to a very high standard. The building remained unused unil the owener, Thanet Borough Council, auctioned it. A total refurbishment (except for the 2 fireplaces in the bar/restaurant left as an example) has provided a very high standard of rooms and facilities. The staff are very proud of their hotel and this shows throughout. Having paid more the previous night to stay in a poorly maintained hotel from the same era, it was a relief to stay here. Ideally located on the end of 'the strip' retaurants were only less than 10 minutes away. We use the Buoy and Oyster and had a pleasant evening and good food. Parking maybe an issue, but if you drive into and past the Turner Contmporary, through the pay car park, you will eventually reach a section of foreshore road which is available for parking, but popular. The walking siatance up the exit road is about the same as walking back past the Turner. If you fail to find a spot, then you can always park in the pay Turner car aprk, but after the visitors have left, and you are going out, then move your car and save the majority of the fee.
