For ten years she was the lead in the Folies Bergeres, and admired by all who saw her. During WWII She won the Croix de Guerre for her work with the French Resistance. When the Germans invaded France she moved to the chateau where she helped Belgian refugees and ultimately adopted 12 children. She was the first Afro-American to star in a major motion picture (Zouzou) and was the only female speaker in the civil rights march to Washington with Martin Luther King and was offered the lead in the movement when he was assassinated but she declined. When the builders refurbishing the chateau sent her almost broke, Grace Kelly, a close friend, offered her accommodation on the Riviera.

Sehr schöne und ruhige Lage, gute Erreichbarkeit. Sehr schöner Blick ins Tal von der Terrasse. Wohnzimmer und Küche großzügig, Küche gut ausgestattet. Hellhörig. Schlafzimmer z. T. klein, Schranksituation weicht deutlich vom Anspruch ab. Bäder komplett neu, aber ohne Steckdose. Betten z. T. weich. Pool sauber und großzügig beheizt.

We really loved our stay at this lovely house. It worked very well for our two families and it has some lovely features - the pool obviously, but also a really nice shaded dining area where we had our meals. The table tennis table proved very popular and the house is really well located for canoeing, grottos, markets and a lovely wine shop (La Cave Du Coux)

Très bien

La maison est idéalement située pour découvrir la région. Au calme, mais à 5 minutes de Saint Cyprien, une jolie petite ville où on trouve tout ce qu'il faut. La maison est très agréable avec ses différentes terrasses, sa belle piscine, et une vue extraordinaire. Elle est très bien équipée et spacieuse. Nous avons passé un excellent séjour.
