“If you have the urge to stay in what might be a medieval castle, consider this property. It was listed on one website as a 1* facility. Confusing to find the entrance & check in. Someone from the restaurant eventually assisted us. Yellow limestone brick walls … which are fine. No elevator so not an accessible property. There is a 3 piece bathroom (some black mold) in each room, wifi, TV. & AC. There is no fridge, coffee or tea available. There is no where to put your luggage except on the floor.……

“We had a lovely stay at C4 Retreat! The hotel staff was really friendly and helpful, and the continental breakfast was great. The hotel felt fresh and clean with all the necessary amenities. It was super easy to check in despite there not being a 24/7 reception and there were nice little details like getting a decanter of fresh water in your room every day (even though the tap water is safe to drink). “An excellent boutique hotel perfectly located for walking to the many places to visit in Mdina and Rabat. Very close to the main bus stops and restaurants. The hotel is in a grand old building, fully and tastefully modernised inside. Our room was spacious and well appointed. And spotlessly clean. Breakfast was generous; we appreciated the range of fruits. Grace made us very welcome throughout our 3 day stay and was very helpful on practicalities like transport. We really enjoyed our stay and……

“Taxi's couldn't drive down the street, so you had alot of stairs to climb. Poor lighting when checking in at night, and key pad has the bell sign over the # key so was confusing. Also got wrong details when checking in.”

“The communication was really good - we got all the check in info with plenty of time, and messages during our stay asking if we wanted new towels or a room clean etc. The location was also very good. The room smelt a LOT like damp. There was an extractor fan and a dehumidifier but they didn't really do anything. The bathroom was also absolutely tiny - I'm a small woman and I struggled. Overall, an okay stay but incredibly basic and I wouldn't want to stay here for longer than a few nights ”
