Paniolo Hale is a wonderful place, and we love going there. almost all of the condos available for vacation rental are a little funky, but this unit really isn't workable unless it addresses some major issues. First, there are no curtains, not even in the bedroom. because it's surrounded by road/parking on 3 sides, you can feel like you're in a fish bowl. We had to change clothes in the bathroom. Yes, there's a lot of screening plants, but when the groundskeepers are mowing the lawn a few feet from your bed, you'd really like a curtain. (The groundskeepers are very nice and respectful and do excellent work - but it would be nice to have more between us then the unspoken agreement not to look at each other.) There's also a bright streetlight right outside that glares right on your face when you're in the bed. Second, the unit is dark. there are so many plants around it that even during the day you need the lights on. But, the lighting is insufficient (I seriously needed a flashlight to read a book on the sofa), and relies on those cheap fluorescent bulbs that have both a really harsh glare and are also just not bright enough. Third, it says it sleeps 4 and is 1000+ sq ft. The bedroom is separated from the living area by folding doors, so there is little privacy from the rest of the unit. the 2nd bed option is an inflatable mattress, not a sofa bed as i had assumed. Given the inevitable bugs and general state of the floors, I really didn't want my kid sleeping on a mattress on the floor. There's also nowhere to put it, except the lanai, but the streetlight and lack of privacy made that a no go. The unit *might* be 1000 sq ft if you include the lanai. We made up a bed on the sofa. I would not recommend this unit for more than 2. Lastly, it just needs some updating for guests. E.g., the shower curtain was black with mold; there's some water damage in the bathroom in need of repair; the smoke detector had been removed; the sheets and towels are ancient; throw pillows were greasy with age and hard as rocks; there was an assistance chair for the bathroom taking up most of the space in the closet, leaving nowhere for our clothes or bags. There was very little provided - no soap for the dishwasher, no kitchen staples, not even salt, so make sure you get the basics at the grocery store before your stay. Vacasa staff was helpful and brought additional towels (the home had a grand total of 3 threadbare towels when we arrived) and dishwasher soap promptly. On the plus side, the home was fairly clean overall, and for Paniole Hale had very few bugs.
