“Room was very clean and house was beautiful. GREAT location for going to downtown Newport/Mansions/Cliff walk/etc. Bed: mattress comfortable but wooden bed VERY squeaky. Loud squeaks woke you up every time you shifted position TV: could not get any local stations. Not a huge deal for us at all, but may be for others Electrical outlets: lamp on right-side of bed was not even plugged in bc there's no outlet. Understand that this is an older house, but having places to charge……

“The staff were so pleasant to talk to and since my wife and I were not able to climb stairs, we were upgraded to a first floor room. The breakfast served every day was so delicious and ready when we were. Everything we needed was taken care of by wonderful people. Also all the attractions are within walking distance since the hotel is located downtown. I highly recommend the Melville House and we will be staying there again.”

“Rooming house similar to university student rentals I have owned. Have to go upstairs & down a hallway to get a shower. Located on a busy road and the house is right up against the sidewalk. There must be bars nearby as lots of cars with loud stereos and no mufflers driving by at 1:30 am several nights in a row. Listing says they have cots available. Not so.”
