「The location was up on the hill but worth the drive as the seaview was magnificent. The room was of reasonable size with good shower. The hosts were very good and cooked tasty breakfast for us.」

「I always enjoy staying at the Southgate when my husband is in Wlgtn hospital. It means I can park my car and walk across the road without having to navigate through heavy traffic or limited parking. The receptionist is always super helpful and friendly. I highly recommend staying here.」

「We loved this small hotel. The room (we actually had two, coming in a night earlier than expected) was attractive and funky - kind of industrial chic. Great bar downstairs and excellent location with easy access to some of Wellington’s livelier areas. 」

「Room was lovely & clean and had everything we needed. We booked a week in advance and was catching the late InterIslander so had a very late check-in. Mikki answered all my emails promptly and even put 2 orange cones in a parking space for us so we could park without any fuss late at night. Highly recommend and would happily return ☺️」

「I really enjoyed my stay. The Bucket Tree is very iconic, with colonial style architecture, lovely park-like surroundings and that giant bucket-shaped tree in front. I arrived in the middle of a heavy rainstorm, so really appreciated the warm and cosy room. I had a separate bedroom with a very comfortable bed. Beautiful kitchenette and bathroom. Everything was lovely and clean and the service was great. I stayed for two nights and my room was cleaned each day. Would definitely stay here again....

The hotel staff was so friendly and helpful - offloaded our luggage’s & delivered them to our rooms straight before we got in the rooms! Will definitely come back!」
