  • This beautiful barn conversion, nestled in the grounds of a handsome Grade II-listed house in Monmouth, is the ultimate rural retreat, perfect for couples and families craving an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Set between the Black Mountains and the Lower Wye Valley, this scenic countryside spot is the perfect place to enjoy some peace and quiet, whilst listening to the local birdsong. It boasts lovely local walks into the Hendre Woods, up to the hidden church where Charles Rolls is buried, and the iconic Offa’s Dyke passes just a mile from the doorstep, which takes you through the ancient woodland of the Hendre Woods. Located in the Wye Valley's lower reaches, the charming, historic market town of Monmouth, 5 miles away, features elegant Georgian mansions and Victorian courtyards lined with independent shops, pubs and restaurants. Hire a canoe from nearby Symonds Yat (10.5 miles) to explore the Wye Valley from its best watery angle.


    Beneath the traditional stone exterior, you’ll find the perfect combination of Shaker-style charm and contemporary touches throughout the spacious open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner that welcomes you into the homely hideaway.     Enclosed by mature hedges brimming with wildlife and quaint country cottage walls, the beautiful garden is truly a tranquil haven. It features an elevated patio area perfect for al fresco dining, and wonderful views overlooking the field next door, a designated local wildlife site, home to grazing sheep. There is private parking for two cars and a gentle stream and many local walks can be accessed straight from the property on the network of footpaths across the valley.

    - Mobile signal is weak – O2 offers the best reception although even the garden is Wi-Fi enabled

    - Enclosed garden with patio area and outdoor dining furniture

    - Private parking for 2 cars

    - Secure bike storage (on request)

    - Shop and pub 3 miles

    - Please note sheep in fields next to the property and along walks from the doorstep, so dogs must be kept on a lead
