The room was spacious and clean with windows so it was airy when required to be. The staff would be very helpful with any queries. A reasonably priced hotel and in a nice location by the river in the town of Monmouth and close to some nice eating establishments. The bed was really comfortable. The fact that the main gate was possibly going to be locked at 8pm made me panic, but I was given an extra key for the main gate and was given a phone number to call if there were issues with getting in.

On the plus side the staff were friendly, the price good, the bed comfy and the parking free. On the negative side, everything looked a bit shabby, doors were dirty, the window in the bedroom didn’t close properly and when a heavy burst of rain occurred water was flowing into the bedroom. The plugs didn’t all work, the television was hung on a wonk, the light was broken and hanging off the wall. I was woken throughout the night with people banging doors and then at 6am was a fire alarm, I left the building but no one was checking if people were ok. Eventually the alarm stopped and they just said it was a false alarm and no apology when I left. The main issue was that the lock on the bedroom door was not safe. It was held on by 2 out of 4 screws and barely working. I would advise people not to stay here until they get the locks sorted as it would be too easy for someone to push hard on the door and enter your room at night. Very sad!!!

Terrible night at this Hotel. The windows are not sound proof so road is very loud, then the guest next door kept forgetting her door number and was banging on my door at 1am and 2am... Ruined my night and following day. I had to switch to local Premier Inn for the 2nd night.
