Beware—False Advertising
Overall, we were disappointed and very frustrated with the rental company and depiction of the property. First the positives—The neighborhood was wonderful, the kitchen was very well-equipped (pellet ice maker!) and the linens were great. The views from the house were wonderful. But we rented the property primarily for the beach access because we were traveling with toddlers. The photos depict a nice wide beach just off the back yard and a nice AstroTurf back yard. We did not know until arrival that a hurricane washed out the beach a year+ ago and that a more recent tropical storm had washed it out more. The reality was that we never had true beach access (never for the kids to play) off the back of the house, which is clearly shown in the photos. Beyond that, we could only access the beach (in order to pass through a sea wall opening and get to a true beach on the other side) for an hour or two (max) per day. When we contacted the rental company to complain, we were told that they cannot control Mother Nature. I agree. But you CAN be honest with the photos of the property. Beyond that, when I asked the rental company how we were supposed to safely access the beach with our children, I was told there was public beach access several blocks away. Insulting for what we paid. Beyond that, there was no astroturf (they told us that an hour prior to arrival) and the pool had not been maintained. I respectfully asked for a partial refund and was denied. Beware of Seastar Realty.
