Best Cottage on the Beach

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We love this rustic cottage. It's a cozy, convenient, and happy place to stay with your family. Already making plans to go back 2x next year! Also loved that we got some free umbrellas and chairs from Garden City Realty. Would highly suggest The Quay restaurant just minutes down the road from the house at the marina.

We stay here because it has a wheelchair ramp. The house is clean, close to the beach and a great place to stay. There are plenty of bed space. We always cook and I love the kitchen. It is a comfortable place with great parking for 3 vehicles, one being a handicap van. It is a beautiful place. The view of the ocean from the front porch and large windows is wonderful. The homes in front of it are on stilts so that you can see under them and see the ocean waves. There are several rockers on the porch and it’s wonderful and calming to set there. It’s a great place to bring your whole family and to have fun together. Love, love, love this house! It meets our large family needs! ❤️

Not worth the money

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Not as good as in the past. We could not sit or porch for the flies. On Wednesday when trash was emptied we saw maggots in trash can. Not from us as we didn’t throw any food out. We had to wash the cans out. Sickening. Next came the ants. Also one bed had two fitted sheets. King b d has the hole coming back on right side. Frying pans left black on the pancakes, so old and used so much.

"Our" beach house!

Our parents and grandparents used to bring my cousin and I when we were small and now that we have families of our own we try to get together once a year and return with our children. I am in SC and she is in IN. There is no other place we would rent. It's walking distance to the pier and you get to enjoy the beach view from the front porch. We arrived this year to see a new deck on the front and we loved it!!

Unfortunately, Last Stay.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My family & I have rented Abernethy on 4 separate occasions, spending well over 15 thousand dollars. We always enjoyed the quite, clean cottage. Unfortunately, this was not the case during this stay. Early in the week, we quickly realized that we were constantly being "policed" by a lady that lived nearby. She would keep walking by the house trying to see if we were doing something wrong. One day while on the beach, a lightening storm suddenly approached. Trying to quickly make our way to safety, we followed this same lady down a pathway between two houses. Later that afternoon, I received a call from the realtor stating that she had reported us for trespassing. She continued to closely monitor everything we did for the remainder of the week. My family is made up of a teacher, headmaster, and an HR professional. All we wanted to do is quietly relax and unwind, but this was not the case. Garden City Reality and Abernethy are wonderful, but I cannot recommend this place if your looking for a relaxing, stress free, private vacation.

Fun in the Sun at Abernethy Cottage

I walked down most days to watch the sunrise. The pier is quite close as well. The cottage is very nice and much bigger than I thought at first. The front deck was a great place to relax and watch the beach goers. It is second row, but we could still see the ocean. The cottage was clean and well maintained. We plan to go back sometime soon and bring our kids and grandkids.

The home was extremely clean and well taken care of. The location was perfect. We really enjoyed sitting on the porch watching the waves come in on the beach. The only suggestion I’d offer is to invest in some new living room furniture. The material on the couch and loveseat was dingy and appeared soiled. We really didn’t want to sit on them.The staff at Garden City Reality was extremely helpful and great to deal with. We have rented a number of beach houses from them in the past and will continue to do so in the future.

Huge living room/dining room opens to the kitchen to make one big room perfect for family time. Loved the location and so close to the ocean, pier and everything in Garden City. Highly recommend
