“We decided to stay on Cormorant Island while doing a loop trip from Kamloops around the Discovery Heritage trail to Prince Rupert - ferry to p Port Hardy - then down Vancouver Island and back home through Vancouver. Alert Bay is unique with a rich cultural history. We did a hike - the tall tree hike and it was short but beautiful...as well as a beach walk on rhe north side of the island. The Nimpkish Inn was a wonderful place to stay. It is an older place but has charm! Very clean with friendly……

“Alert Bay is on a small island. The facility is centrally located with a restaurant and is adjacent to the RCMP station, liquor and grocery store. “Cottage #13 was clean, modern fixtures and appliances, very well stocked with kitchen utensils and housewares. Booking on-line was efficient, and communication with the property managers (Alder Bay RV park and marina) was excellent. Office staff were present 8am to 8pm and helpful. The location is very convenient: the bear watching (Sea Wolf) and whale watching (Sea Smoke) tour boats coming from Port McNeill and Alert Bay will pick you up on the Alder Bay marina dock, which will save you a lot……

But there are other things to do -- explore the island and walk the beaches. The apartment and our hosts were perfect.
