Consigliatissimo!

La Gemma was a beautiful place to stay. The host, Gemma, was such a lovely and hospitable person, making us feel welcome the moment we booked. She went above and beyond with our room and booking, walking us through maps of the area and events happening during our stay. She was also so kind and playfor with our 1 year old, giving her toys and making her a balloon animal. Breakfast was tailored and delicious. Overall a fantastic stay.

The owner, Gemma is a very affable person. But if you arrive there with 2 big bags like we did - please note that there are 30 narrow steps to negotiate. The advertising is misleading and indicates that there are only a few small steps to climb after the elevator stops. I have pictures!! The accommodations are in a windowless attic that was baking! Granted this has been a hot summer, but I feel that the owner should have arranged for fans . She would also not permit us to keep the AC on when we were out. As a result, we sweltered for at least one hour every evening until the rooms became tolerable. She gave me her office fan for 1 room which was missing a grille and her personal one after we indicated desperation . One such evening, we complained to Expedia and asked what our options for moving and a refund. Expedia contacted the owner and following that we observed a souring of our host’s mood. When we left the elevator did not function - so we had to carry bags down to the street level. When we complained she said that she had suggested that we put the bags in the elevators and walk down the stairs. I felt she was gaslighting . She could have come out and helped us as we were her only guests. There is a terrace that one could cool down in but the neighbor has a dog and is outright hostile to Gemma’s guests. Please be aware that the dog also uses the terrace for potty purposes!! On the plus side the location is good. Gemma arranged for a private tour for
