  • Closed for the 2026 season, but we look forward to Spring 2027 and beyond! We look forward to accepting new guests {and returning guests) who appreciate what we offer - check out our reviews!

    Roomy and comfortable, perfect for a family vacation! Golden sand beach out front*. Fabulous views of the Northumberland Strait, including Pictou Island, the PEI ferry crossing, and sometimes even PEI itself. Three bedrooms that comfortably sleep six. One full & one half bathroom. Large eat-in kitchen. Separate living/dining room with vaulted ceiling. Enclosed front porch and new front deck for morning coffee. Big back deck for afternoon/evening BBQ. 10 minute drive to Melmerby Beach (best public beach in Nova Scotia), 15 minute drive to New Glasgow. 30 minute drive to the PEI ferry located at Caribou NS. 2 hour drive to downtown Halifax. Choice of 4 local golf courses (two 18 and two 9 hole). Cross-fit gym available in New Glasgow as well as a yoga studio and the Pictou County Wellness Center. Quiet local roads for cycling, and trails for hiking/biking. Attractions include the Museum of Industry in New Glasgow, and the deCoste Performing Arts Center in Pictou. Day trips include the town of Antigonish - you can could also continue east to access Cape Breton, the Cabot Trail, and Fortress Louisburg, or you could instead drive north around beautiful Cape George (the "little Cabot Trail") parts of which can actually be seen toward the east from the front deck of the Cottage itself!

    * Depending on the severity of winter storms which can take away the beach sand (as in 2024), or bring it back again - we are right next to the ocean after all...

    Please do not drive/park vehicles on the front lawn, where the septic field is located.

    For your peace of mind: VRBO is the only third party website we use to rent the Cottage. ANY OTHER LISTING of the Cottage (aside from sister companies of VRBO) is not authorized, and could be fraudulent.

Great place to spend time. The accommodations are well maintained. We enjoy the quiet area and sitting in the sunroom with a coffee and a book. Communication with the host was excellent.

Place was OK, very soothing; beach helped. Cleanliness OK, far from spotless. Things didn't work ie., batteries for remote, lighters not working for fire on beach;. Small things, but frustrating when not a back up. Cathy property manager, invasive popping in unannounced; most do not do that. Love the area, but to rent there again no, too pricey with all their fees.

Go North!

We enjoyed our stay in this tranquil Northumberland Shore location. Well kept older cottage in a prime, private setting. Friendly neighbors and a beautiful view in all directions. We enjoyed our stay and hope to be back sometime!

Beautiful ocean views and access

It was marvelous. The view of the gulf, the back deck. The property manager BJ was very helpful. The cottage is very nice and comfortable. Lots to do nearby, we hope to be back.

This is such a charming cottage with an eclectic mixture of furniture. The view is amazing, and the hosts are super friendly and welcoming. I would certainly stay here again.

Awesome views awesome sunsets

Felt very much like home as opposed to a rental. The views where amazing. The host Bill, and Cathy and Brian made us feel like we where friends not just another customer highly recommend for a nova scotia stay. If you want a great relaxing vacation its a great spot..

Outstanding !

We really enjoyed our stay. The weather was hot & sunny every day so the kids were able to enjoy the ocean and sandy beach during the day, and have smores at the beach bonfire at night. The cottage is very clean with lots of room . The covered sun porch out front was amazing !

We absolutely loved our stay in this wonderful cottage! The cottage itself is bright and airy and much bigger inside than we expected. Lots of room in the kitchen, living room and screened in veranda. Nice to have a bathroom-and-a-half with 5 or 6 people staying. The washer and dryer are great too. Very good communication with the host and caretaker, very friendly! The view of the Northumberland Strait is amazing, and we enjoyed being able to access the beach directly from the cottage via the stairs. It was lovely to walk along to and around the sandy point, especially at sunset. There are deer and bunnies around which was a big hit with the kids! We watched Blue Heron along the shoreline. It’s quiet and peaceful, sometimes the only sound was the birdsong. There were fireflies at night. It’s a very close drive to Melmerby Beach which is also a treat. Truly one of the best beaches in Nova Scotia, with huge sandbars at low tide. Very kid friendly. We would definitely return to this property. Our only complaint is the week passed by too quickly!

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful cottage just steps to the ocean and a private beach. Clean, spacious and all as advertized. Warm greetings from the owner and property managers Brian and Cathy set the stage for our quiet and idyllic vacation. We will be back!!!

Bissful Retreat

The cottage looks directly out on the ocean and offers an amazing vista each day regardless of the weather. Really enjoyed the many hours on the beach enjoying the views, relaxing, swimming and reading. Cathie and BJ are wonderful hosts attentive to every need.

Another Great Stay

Our fourth year here and it does not disappoint! Beach is beautiful and and easy access to day trips to PEI or Cape Breton is the weather is not cooperating. Jacqueline had the place spotless for our arrival and JB the caretaker and his life partner Kate are true gems! Highly recommend this location!

Experience

It was extremely clean and well-kept. The view was absolutely beautiful morning and night. We enjoyed it so much we often to stay for a second week. Despite how warm the weather was, there was a beautiful breeze most days. Beach was completely quiet every day and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
