Easy access, roomy, close to so much but in a private country setting.

This home is currently being remodeled. The bedrooms, full bath, and laundry room are completed, but living room and kitchen are still under construction. Completely functional, but we are still in the process of designing and finishing some areas.

Formerly a one room schoolhouse built in 1876, this building was bought by a local family in 1955 and converted to a two story residence. Perfectly situated on a beautiful acre, this home offers a private outdoor seating area and deck, fire pit and unique "Pub Shed". Conveniently located near several major highways including the Pennsylvania Turnpike and Routes 70, 66, and 119. Just 35 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, it's a quick drive into the city, or to the Laurel Highlands historic districts of Ligonier and Latrobe, and the popular ski resorts of Seven Springs and Hidden Valley.

If you have an event in Pittsburgh, a quick hop onto the turnpike and you're in the city in 40 minutes! New Stanton is major intersection joining Rte 119 South toward Morgantown, WV; Rte 70 West toward Wheeling WV, Rte 70 East toward Somerset, Bedford and Harrisburg, and Rte 66 North toward Delmont.

***The outside fire pit and pub shed are available when the host is present and the weather is cooperative. This means that at the host's discretion there may be a fire and the pub shed may be open for lounging and karaoke. Otherwise feel free to use the seating area to relax.

Comfortable and great location

Everything about this stay was easy! Great location for visiting Seton Hill University as we were on this trip.Everything we could need or want was provided. I was thrilled by the simple to use coffee maker, coffee pods, and creamers.The home is clean and comfy, and I highly recommend it. So much nicer than staying in a hotel reasonably priced.The hosts were welcoming and there was great communication provided.

Clean and comforting!

From the moment we pulled in the driveway, Chet made us feel right at home. The house is very clean. The hosts pay close attention to detail to make their guests comfortable. Great communication throughout our stay. Convenient location near the turnpike, but it is in a secluded area allowing peace and quiet. Will certainly stay again!

Old school house stay

We look for unique places to stay and this was unique staying in a near 150 year old school house. The building is a 2 story and bedrooms are upstairs. There is a 1/2 bath down and full bath up. Chet the owner met us at the car upon arrival and explained things. He is friendly and helpful. The exterior and interior are both in good condition. The LR ceiling has not been drywalled like the remainder of the unit but there is a sign stating that renovations are in progress. I gave a 5 star review because where else can you stay in a 150 year old former school and because the unit was clean and well stocked with everything (except body wash or soap in the shower}. There are a few things to mention. The neighborhood where the dwelling resides is just OK but we did feel safe. It also is very close to the owners house and basically separated by the owner's patio. I think that the experience would have been more authentic if there had been some old school furniture and more photos on the wall representative of the period. There is an organ in the LR which felt out of place. It was a good experience for us though and I would recommend. Thanks Chet.

Safe, Clean, Relaxing

We couldn’t have been happier with our stay! From the moment we arrived, we felt safe and welcomed. The rental was clean and thoughtfully prepared, with special touches from the hosts that made it feel like home. We arrived after dark, and it was such a kind gesture to find the porch light on and soft lighting inside—it made settling in so easy. What mattered most to us was feeling safe, and this property absolutely delivered. It was also the perfect balance: close enough for a quick and easy trip into Pittsburgh, but far enough to enjoy a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle. Highly recommend this lovely rental to anyone looking for comfort, safety, and a touch of nature. It's a VRBO I wish I could have everywhere I go!

My husband, mom and aunt stayed at Chet’s place to attend a family event in Irwin. This is the cleanest rental I’ve stayed at. It is well supplied, the internet is great and the beds are comfortable. We already have plans to stay again in a couple of months.

Our family has stayed at this property - the Old Stanton School House, a number of times in various seasons. It's a wonderful place with excellent, caring hosts. There are lots of rooms, it's nicely furnished and it's always super clean. It's really easy to unload your things, right from your car straight through the front door. It's very comfortable here; just like home.

One of my favorite VRBOs

Of all the VRBOs my wife and I have rented, this is one of our favorite. We felt right at home from the moment we entered the door. The fact that it was decorated for Christmas and that Christmas music was playing was VERY much appreciated. And we made good use of the mistletoe!The interior was spacious, well furnished, and well equipped. The house and neighborhood were quiet. Had it been a bit warmer, we would have enjoyed sitting outside.The location was great for our purposes, and the home was easy to get to from my sister-in-law's home in Greensburg.Chet was a great host.We'll be back if we get the opportunity.
