Friendly and helpful staff. Clean premises. Central location.
Great no frills accomodation but in a great location for all the local facilties and nightlife. Stayed there several times and can't grumble. Be nice if there was somewhere to stores/hang clothes etc in the room but no dramas living out a bag for 2 days.
A lovely hostel with welcoming staff. Clean and comfortable. Nice to have tea and milk available.
The female dorm I was in had a lovely old fashioned fireplace and historic feel.
Slight delay to get in when it was late (22:50): several buzz a few mins apart and nobody was answering the phone. Luckily someone came in.
Otherwise really good stay: friendly staff, bedroom spacious, bed comfortable and great facilities.
The first thing that hit me when I walked into the dorm, was the smell of feet. The room was noisy at night, with fellow residents coming in and out and there was plenty of noise from the street bellow, so one would find resting difficult if a light sleeper. My bed was comfortable, but being on the lower bunk had its disadvantages and I woke whenever the occupant climbed up and down the ladder. Apart from that, I felt like I was in a warm and safe space. My fellow room bunkers were all friendly and the hostel staff were also friendly, welcoming and courteous.

You get what you pay for.
Room was clean. Very basic inside. One bunk bed wit double bed at the bottom and single at the top. If you are 6'3 you will struggle as bed not that big. Only one chair the room. No wardrobe or even small table. No mirror in the room. There is an emergency green light in the room that you can't switch off. It's very annoying as it's to bright in the night. To the toilets and shower you have to got to the other side ot the building through the corridor and small staircase. Hot water in the shower, but you can't control temperature so it might be to hot for some. Electric heater in the room wasn't on when we arrived. It took me a while to get it going. Lady at the reception was OK.
This is a hostel and not a hotel. That said I had a private room that was inexpensive. it was warm, comfortable and felt safe. The hostel is excellently placed in the centre of Newcastle near nightlife. But I heard no noise from my room at the rear of the property.
