It’s close to the beach (c.350 paces) and station – 5 minutes walk – and an easy 10 minute walk to the centre of Villefranche.
If two parties are sharing the apartment, you’ll have to toss for who gets which bedroom. The front one has a king size bed and access to the balcony; the back one is cosy – it takes a standard double, just – and has a window overlooking the courtyard garden. The kitchen opens on to the salon so the chef won’t feel isolated. It has all the electrical equipment you’ll need, including a Nespresso machine, toaster, gas hob and an electric oven. A fridge freezer gives ample space to store fresh food.
There’s a small library of books and maps on the local area, an assortment of DVDs, a large flat screen TV and internet access.
With the station being so conveniently close, you will hear the swish of electric trains as they pass but this stops for a good period at night. Mostly you’ll be serenaded by the sound of waves on the beach and the tinkling of halyards on the yachts in the bay.
No need for a car as the train service is brilliant! 10 minutes to the centre of Nice, 2 minutes to Beaulieu (with a good supermarket right next to the station), and on to Eze, Monaco and Menton, and 40 minutes to the Friday morning market in Ventimiglia.
