"This was my favorite accommodation in Japan. It was very cozy and made me feel home. We had the Sennari room. There were 4 beds in two rooms but we only used two. There was a microwave, fridge, kitchen sink with dishes/soap, washer/dryer, kitchen table, sofa. It was two levels with bedrooms upstairs. We never saw our host. It was self check in with a code. "We were made to feel exceptionally welcomed on arrival by the staff. The place was comfortable and clean, the staff extremely attentive, and we were provided with every amenity required. We felt that the offer of the Yukatas and sleeping garments were really considerate. We enjoyed the carefully curated dishes for dinner. Really exceptional service, this is how luxury travel used to feel and sadly has been lost in many places in more modern times. Highly rated. Takayama was the highlight of our visit."

"The hotel is very conveniently located. It’s 5 minutes away from the train and the tour bus stations and 10 to 15 minutes away from the major attractions. I only used taxis once in hope to see the Golden Temple but be aware that most temples close at 4 PM in Takayama. All the hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. I’d say 70 % speak English but have your Google Translate ready to use. Good breakfast. People enjoyed the onsen and told me great things about it. Small bathroom. Daily housekeeping service was impeccable. I would stay here again if I come to Takayama."

The onsen bath/ ofuro was extremely relaxing, clean, and refreshing. The staff are above and beyond professional and extremely courteous. We will definitely come back to stay at this hotel. We highly recommend this hotel after a long day of hiking and sightseeing."

"We had a wonderful stay at Sansuikan. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming and always happy to help. Our room had a beautiful mountain view, which made it a very relaxing place to stay. The meals were delicious, with a great variety of authentic local Japanese dishes. The hotel is also conveniently located, with easy access to the bus stop for Kamikochi. We would definitely recommend Sansuikan to anyone visiting the area."
