「Clean room, friendly staff, AND free breakfast that I didn’t expect. We could see the beach from the deluxe room and just steps away from the beach. We randomly put two camper foldable chairs in the car and that actually was really helpful as we didn’t have anywhere else to sit besides the bed so we had a make shift living room that was perfect. The public spaces feel very cramped and too small to really enjoy; for example the lobby is very small and right past the check in desk. Not a welcoming environment four lounging. The rooms are a good size but ours did not have a door between the room and the double vanity area of the bathroom which was very unappealing. 「The Shem Creek Inn was a good home base for us in Charleston. The hotel pool was great. The location overlooking the river was really fun for people watching! Hotel parking is really convenient. Walkable to several restaurants right on the water and a quick drive to other restaurants on Sullivan's Island. The hotel breakfast is ok. Not great, but easy. Fridge and microwave in the room were really helpful. We will definitely stay here again when we're back in the area.」

「Don’t understand all of the glowing reviews. Room was tiny, bathroom walls had white stains all over and toilet paper stuck to them, shower floor was level with the rest of the bathroom floor so the water just flowed across the whole bathroom, which was very unsafe. Neighborhood didn’t feel very safe. Really glad this was just a quick stay for us.」

「The room was terrible bath room had black algae growing in it.. The whole place was dirty. It needs referbishing. We like the location but we won't stay there again unless they clean it up. No amenities to speak of. Bad breakfast」

「Location was great. Beds were comfortable. Staff were friendly. Pool was good. AC was cold. Room was outdated for a Mariott property. Water pressure was terrible the whole stay. It took me 5xs longer to shower just to rinse the shampoo out of my hair. Baseboards were peeling off the walls and the tub was slow draining. The elevator was sketchy and made a super scary jerking movement. Overall, a decent place to stay but I think I’ll stay at another mariott next time.」

「Rooms were clean, picture of the pool is very deceiving online it’s not big at all. Pool lounge chairs are always taken by people putting their stuff on them in the morning and not returning until a hour or so later. The conversation sets at the pool are “reserved only” for $300/hr (were empty majority of the day) which does not leave a lot of room for the guests staying wanting to be by the pool. You’d think for as much as you pay to stay some of these amenities would be available for guest...
