The staff were lovely but one lift was broke and the other one was tiny... the decor could do with a good tidy up and the bathroom although clean looks like it could do with some work on the bath and the ceiling...apart from outdated furniture and decor a nice hotel for a night and the price.

Fawlty Towers
Very Outdated, Not enough signage to point you in the right direction, 2no lifts one was out of order the other was like something out of a horror film. My room's door didn't shut properly you had to make sure the catch locked otherwise anyone could of joined me.
All in all it felt very fawlty towers-esque.
The Strathdon is a lovely little hotel, it is dated but it was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The beds were a little uncomfortable, the mattresses are definiety in need of replacing.
The only downside and no fault of the hotel is the church bell ringing on a Sunday morning. We were woken by the chimming at 7:40am and again at gone 9am.
Super friendly staff. However the hotel is in dire need of refurbishing. Poor air and water quality in rooms which tend to carry al the noises from adjacent rooms, also above.

Hotel is a little tired, but the staff were very friendly and helpful, things were clean, breakfast was very good. Excellent value compared to other central Nottingham hotels.Would stay there again, at this price.
Old fashioned style, but has everything you should need for a short trip. Great location near to town centre.
Please allow the radiators to be controlled in the room tho as it was very warm!!
Special shout out to the reception staff tho who were very friendly (and professional without being stuffy!)
Absolutely fine and dandy and fit for purpose 3 star budget hotel for central Nottingham. Decent bar and they did a decent fish and chips as bar food. breakfast was plentiful, well cooked and looked like "clean" food.

The hotel is in a great position for visiting the theatre or Rock City. Unfortunately over the past few years I've noticed the rooms getting more and more tired and the hotel needs a bit of investment.

Only ones in the hotel?!
We appeared to be the only ones in the hotel! We didn’t see anyone else anywhere at all! When we can down for breakfast it was a large dining room and all the tables were set but no one else appeared! Having said that the breakfast was very good and the waitress who looked after us was lovely. As she had no one else to worry about she could give all her attention to us!

Not worth the money
Wouldn't really recommend. Rooms need tlc. Windows don't close properly either so could hear whistling from the winds all the night and an alarm and noisy guests above me the night before

Comfortable beds, good breakfast and friendly staff; room was hot and radiator couldn't be adjusted and outside was noisy with window open. Only one lift working and not reliable which could have been an issue as one of our party had mobility issues and couldn't use stairs. Overall a bit dated but reasonable price
A bit of an old fashioned hotel, and that is meant as a compliment. Recently, any stays have been in the modern inns and lodges, and this was simply a throwback. The place was clean and the room absolutely fine with good amenities to hand: iron, a press, and proper wooden furniture. They offer 24 hr room servive which is great if required.
Superb value for money in the perfect location for my visit

Pros: basically based in the city centre, but not on a busy street so it is quiet.
Cons: the place is a bit drab, old-fashioned and needs a bit of renovation. Taking a shower is not a trivial task there as every single move results in flooding the floor. The housekeeping is a bit of an issue. I found previous guest's underwear in trouser press.
Nottingham is a busy city. It is well stocked with bars and restaurants. The Strathdon Hotel is located right in the centre of the city. A reasonable price.
