There was one hand towel, no bath mat, no hair dryer and a spider in the shower. I’m staying at La Quinta Inn in Naples today and it is a major upgrade. I was really surprised at the quality of the room at Residence Inn.

Pros: quiet, clean, nice front desk people. Problems: absolutely NO cooking equipment of any kind...no pans, no spatulas, no strainer, nothing but a few plates and cups. We had to ask for pans to cook, and they gave us two beat up old pans. Why would someone rent a place with a full kitchen and then not cook? In addition, the place is aging and fraying around the edges. Pool is not heated. They only gave us two towels and we had to go to the desk to ask for more. Breakfast is fine, but nothing special. Same eggs and pork sausages every day. Bed was too soft for us, but that's a matter of taste. The additional $5 per day parking fee was just .... irritating. If it was downtown somewhere that might make sense.

We stayed at the hotel for 3 days and 2 nights and overall, the place looked like it needed a renovation. The sofa bed was comfortable but pretty springy. In the shower, the bottom of the bathtub looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for a while. The charging spot by the sink didn’t work, and I had to do my hair next to the bed, which wasn’t really practical. On the second night I found a cockroach by the bathroom door, which had never happened in my experience with hotels. I will say that the staff was very helpful and accommodated our needs. But the only lace didn’t really look like the picture of online. If you’re honestly just going to stay there to sleep at night, then it’s okay, but if you’re going to stay a long time, I would say to think about it.

The rooms are outdated. The manager (short Asianooking lady) is rude and tried to get loud with me in front of other customers, after she admitted the pull out sofa in my room was broken and they have been asking corporate for things that they are not getting, and even showed me a list of things. She refused to switch my room, and expected my son to sleep sitting in a chair the entire weekend because they only have one maintenance guy that wasn't there. Instead of her switching the room she refunded my day and told me I could go somewhere else (referenced me to go to the Extended Stay at Summit Tower). They had a Christmas party in the dining area for guest and didn't bother to think about the homeless families and children living there.

Room was ok. I liked it that there was a separate kitchen, although there were almost no kitchen utilities. I did not cook so I did not miss it, but having glasses/cups and some big plates would be nice. If you need internet, do not make a reservation here. Internet in building 15 was terrible!!!! The reception lady told me to call a 1-800 nummer if I had internet problems. I could not believe it!!!! After 5 days I finally found a place in the room where I could sit and connect my laptop to the internet. I had booked a 10 night stay there because it was conveniently located (near the Sanlando park for tennis camp) but because of the poor internet I cut it short to 6 nights. They wanted me to swith rooms but since they could not guarantee that the internet in that room would be ok, I just declined and left.

Some of the staff need training. A lot of training. One example is one of the check in clerks deceived me when I brought up the issue of I could not get into my room something was wrong with the latch on the door. He said I must be doing it wrong. I asked for another room. The new room was right next door and during my stay I saw 2 or 3 new tenants have the same trouble. I don't like to be lied to. I guess he was trained to lie by management. I can't imagine he came up with the idea himself. Some of the rooms are next thebasketball court. They can borrow a basketball from the office and are allowed to play until 10 pm. That was unplesant. It got very loud.

The space was large and accommodating, the A/C was nice and cold, and the beds were firm and comfortable, but the furniture was old and worn, the decor was dated, and the unit was not very clean. There was a lot of dust, there were toothpaste stains on the cabinet in the bathroom, dirty smudges on the door entryways and kitchen wall, there was a burn hole in the sofa cushion, and the whole unit smelled of cigarette smoke. The telephone did not work, the toilet was very low, while the water level in the bowl was too high, and the water temperature in the downstairs bath ranged from very hot to scalding; there was no colder water to be had. The breakfast was very good, with lots of options. The daytime reception staff person could have been more friendly and professional. I was very surprised that the Marriott name was associated with this property, as it did not live up to my expectations of what the Marriott brand stands for and what I have experienced at other Marriott properties.

Breakfast and check-in/check-out staff were friendly and accommodating, however our room was very old and need of updating. 2 out of the 3 TVS in our room were not working, bed and pillows were hard, did not have enough towels and bathroom mats. Neighbors were noisy, and our room smelled horribly of curry. We were there for 2 nights and the smell was still in our room by the time we checked out.
