“Began witting this while in this locale... Another restless night. This rental is located 20 meters from Hwy 307, a main route north and south on the Mexican Carribean. The road noise is/was awful. We also listened to a water pump loudly whine all night the first night. I sent the host a notice that the pumps bearing was likely going out. They responded they knew and stated the pump had been disconnected. For one night we didn't hear the pump. Then the next two nights, our last two. I read……

“We come to Xcalak every year for the past 8 years to fish. This house has been our favorite so far. Will be back again. ”

“There are minor repairs that can be done in the unit. It is a somewhat remote Mexican town. It has a lovely view, comfortable beds, a working kitchen, and a very peaceful vibe. It is not a Hilton. It was lovely for us. Peaceful.”

“We went to Xcalak not really ,knowing what to expect…we arrived to the property and made ourselves at home…we walked around town and most looked at us like we were as new in town as we were..this only lasted a few days and then everyone greeted us with a friendly smile and a Hola wherever we went Xcalak is the town time forgot…it’s a place where relaxation can truly take place…we ate at most of the restaurants in the area and enjoyed every meal…nothing fancy just real food The house was fine……

“We have no idea what this was like since we never got to stay there. The host contact number was not in service. We never received any check in instructions and we went to the property and no one was there. We paid and reserved this weeks before. We were in the middle of nowhere in a foreign country in a taxi with a 4 month old baby in the heat without being able to get into the place we paid for. To make it even worse when we called customer service for both VRBO and Expedia, I was on hold for……

“After Vrbo confirmed the booking, we never heard again from the host. The day of the stay I was told they never answer any txt or calls. Had to find were to stay last minute, with kids, on the middle.of the night. Not the greatest experience.”
