Please note: Like most homes on the east side of the island, this home does not have air conditioning. Instead, it is equipped with a whole-house fan, ceiling fans, and portable fans to keep the space breezy and comfortable in true island style.

Per Hawaiian regulations for short term vacation rentals, the owner resides in a private apartment on the ground floor. Guests enjoy full access to the entire upper level and all outdoor amenities. As well as one covered parking spot and on site included laundry.

  • In 1790 a swift moving lava flow leveled the forest here and drained away, leaving behind a new forest of "lava trees". These hollow rock columns were formed when the lava wrapped around the cool tree trunks and quickly solidified. When the molten lava drained away, these rock columns were left standing. The columns are hollow because the tree trunks themselves were incinerated during the process, but only after the rock had cooled enough to hold it's shape. If you look closely, you can sometimes see the texture of the tree bark in the rock molds.

My family had the most amazing time. Matt was an incredible host! From all the amenities to opening coconuts for my eager daughter. He showed us all around the property and was very knowledgeable. We will definitely be back and I will tell everyone I know to stay at the amazing house. Thank you for all the hospitality. We are home now and missing it so much
