I came here with my husband and toddler (a year and a half old). Overall we had a great time. What we liked: - The view was breathtaking! - Our housekeeping staff Ajithkumar was amazing to us! He always greeted us and asked if we needed our room cleaned. And when he did, we were greeted with a pleasant surprise, a swan scultpture made out of towels and a really cute elephant scultpture for our son. So much talent! - Our room was VERY spacious which was great for our toddler son who loves to run around. And our room came with a HUGE balcony . There was an entire garden! It was amazing! - Our room was clean and the bedding was very comfy! - Easy access to the beach which is very comvenient - The hoppers at the hopper station at breakfast was amazing. - Great ambience! Loved the overall feel of the space. From decor to the music, it was very nice. - Shakila from the restaurant was very nice to us. She always welcomed us with a warm smile and helped us with whatever we needed. She even interacted with our toddler son which was great! What we thought could have been better: - We felt like some of the staff gave the "foreigners" better/special treatment. I'm a Canadian with brown skin who could be mistaken for a local and I felt like at times,we weren't treated like the "white skinned" guests. That's a shame! - The food overall was mediocre. A lot of the food was bland. The a la carte menu was so much better than the buffet. Still not much to rave about.

This hotel is a lovely building right on the beach. It’s very clean, the rooms are spacious and the staff are very friendly- particularly Shakila and Vishwa in the dining room. The cricket was on during our 4-night stay and although I understand that it’s a big thing in Sri Lanka, having it on (loudly) on a big tv screen in the bar/lounge area all day & evening was annoying to say the least. Most guests sat away from the area and the staff were watching it! The number of places to eat/drink near the hotel are extremely limited so bear that in mind if you like to explore a little. Would I recommend the hotel? Yes, if you want to have a peaceful few days and evenings eating at the hotel and relaxing (not when the cricket is on though!)

Shakila i restaurangen var mycket bra och tillmötesgående men de flesta andra där var nya och hade en del att lära. Maten ok men inte mer. Priyatharshini som jobbar i receptionen var också bra och fixade det mesta som krånglade. Fin pool och bra rum nära till havet. Bra service av poograbbarna.Stora rum, bra sängar rymligt bra badrum.

Large clean rooms, Food was good, though very expensive. Good facilities. Overall good stay. A little impersonal compared to other Sri lankan hotels.

3 days and night of hell, no safe place to swim, only a children’s pool. Beach on next property was crowded with bus loads of noisy people playing very loud music every day all day, stayed in room all day, but no peace from the noice next door to the hotel. Hotel was otherwise nice, but impossible to enjoy! WiFi very slow,had to renew pass word every morning

Très belle vue
Hotel très classe, mais dont la décoration est un peu froide. La vue est superbe, cependant la portion de plage est difficilement baignable( pas de fond et coteaux morts), mais il suffit de faire 100 mètres pour se baigner en pleine eau. La piscine à une eau très propre, par contre les bords sont un peu sales bien qu'ils tentent tous les jours de les laver sans succès.... Les deux restaurants sont excellents, les buffets très fournis. Le service est impeccable sauf à la réception où lorsque vous demandez un renseignement ou un prix, on vous donne un numéro de téléphone auquel on vous dit d'appeler. Alors que n'importe quel petit hotel de l'île se met en quatre pour répondre à toutes vos demandes. Il y a quelques restaurants tout près sur la route où l'on peut manger pour moins cher......mais pas de façon aussi copieuse.

Beautiful resort on the Beach
This resort is very modern with huge rooms, large pool and lovely lawns running down to the beach. The staff are pleasant and the rooms are fitted out beautifully. The beach immediately in front of resort is quite corally, however if you walk to the left it is stunning. We like to eat outside hotels to experience the local restaurants, however it is very quiet around this area and choice for good eating is extremely limited. If you just want to chill out and not leave the resort this place is perfect.

Beautiful hotel on the beach pleasant surrounding
From the time of arrival till departure we had nothing but a great experience. Friendly staff and excellent food with great choice. The chefs were happy to provide what we asked for and waiters served with a smile. Were sad to leave.

Loved it loved it loved it. Staff was jovial, service was excellent. Good food. Good view, walk on the beach, swim leisurely and more. Hospitality of all was great. Will go back for a longer stay.

Stayed two nights with the family. in two rooms. Booked through Hotels.com site which gave a better price than the Amaya Beach hotels own website. This is situated among a series of new luxury hotels in Passikudah which were built after the long years of war, which ended in 2009. I could not help the feeling that the mushrooming of these hotels are eating into each other with not enough occupancy. Pros Large area of land, probably the largest premises among similar hotels in Passikudah. We walked along the beach from one corner to the other , looking at all the hotels and felt that Amaya is the greenest and calmest of all. Architecture is old, probably like mid 90's compared to the other hotels in the area. But it is unique and feels serene at the same time. Large open spaces, very wide corridors. Frangipani trees full of flowers, which they pluck and use for decorations, Well maintained coconut trees in the backyard/pool area are all interesting features. Rooms were good. large, beds comfortable, room amenities great. I believe most of their rooms have a Sea view with a balcony, except perhaps for 10 rooms or so. House keeping is good, comes another round in the afternoon inquiring if the clients need refills etc. Power saving features include automatic turning off AC once you open the door to the balcony. Buffet dinner and BF were good with a reasonable variety but , may not be satisfactory to everyone ( F&B is perhaps the most difficult area to cater to everyone's

I went to stay for a night on my way to another city. I usually stay here whenever I go to the city. It's the best place to stay and the price a good on Expedia.

nice hotel , good location by the beach
We booked in for two nights but left after just one. Night wasa nightmare. Mosquitoes were humming and biting in the room and under covers. To make it worst bed bugs joined in too.It leaves you itching and scratchy, blistered bruised and very red. We ordered al a carte lunch from the hotel restaurent and ended up womitting through the night. Though we checked out after i night the hotel charged us for two nights saying that they have to give commision ti expedia for 2 nights that were booked

Nice hotel with minor drawbacks
It's a very nice property but 2 drawbacks. The first one is mosquitoes and the second is this side of the beach has corals ( please take a aqua shoes)

Great hotel for families. Nice rooms, great pool, table tennis, games and safe shallow beach frontage. Excellent food and service was generally good. Anxious times when checking in - hotel had no record of our Expedia booking. Luckily I had thumb drive with all various booking confirmations. Issue was sorted and we were upgraded to swankier rooms (x2) overlooking beach. This was maybe out of necessity as we were initially offered upgrade on a payment basis but declined. Whilst opulent and manicured both inside and out, it very much lacked that earthiness and authenticity that some of our other more eco-friendly lodgings offered along the way. That's not a knock .. just a personal preference.

Great for relaxing
Loved the modern but still traditional design of the hotel, the flowers everywhere. The pool is too shallow for proper swimming, otherwise I liked everything there.
