"Just finished our week long stay. We had an excellent time. We didn’t have any issues with check in. Russell was great at communicating throughout the process. The home and pool were clean upon arrival. The house was walking distance from two stretches of beach— one private access and one public, which was very convenient. Our families had a lovely time in Ocean Isle!"

"We had an absolutely wonderful trip! Amazing property on the ICW and host! The host had everything covered from basic spices in the kitchen to kayaks, grills, and a tiki bar. The pool was wonderful for relaxing and the view over the water from the covered deck was especially priceless at night looking at the stars. Very relaxing vacation but close enough to North Myrtle Beach for some extra excursions. Would definitely book again."

"The house was amazing, beautiful, immaculately clean. We stayed there with 16 people - 4 adults couples and 8 kids ranging from 3-18. The kitchen had everything we needed! The pots and pans were nice and big, the cutlery was Cutco, there were Yeti tumblers for wine, coffee, and water. Two refrigerators and the large pantry provided plenty of space for our food and drinks. The only thing we would have used if it was there is an electric griddle. Also, dishcloths would be a nice addition so we didn’t have to use so many paper towels. The beds were very comfortable and there were accurate descriptions and pictures of the bedrooms. The patio spaces were amazing! The Sonos speaker system was a nice surprise! There are speakers everywhere and you can control where the music is playing and how loud. The pool, backyard, and game room were so much fun. The beach is literally right there and there were plenty of chairs, beach, and pool toys. Our only complaint would be the hot tub. We opted to pay the 100/day to heat the hot tub only. The hot tub was very hot, I’d guess 103-104 and you couldn’t control the temperature or the jets. We never were able to have the jets on in the hot tub. Then, once the hot tub was on it made the pool too warm and less refreshing. Overall, it was 5/5 and we would stay here again 1000%!!!"

"Great place to stay when looking to explore Shallotte and the surrounding beaches and costal towns. Everything you need packed into a small home on a quiet and peaceful property surrounded by just 2 neighbors. Enjoyed our stay!"

"We had to get out of our house for a few days to allow for some work to be done. After a fairly exhaustive search we found this spot and it was excellent. The owner was a pleasure to work with, the location suited all our needs (golf, beach, restaurants, etc.) and it was dog friendly.Property was exceptionally clean and would rank in the top one percent of all the previous VRBOs I've experienced. The house was well stocked with what you would expect and the beds were very comfortable. Great place for pets and the neighborhood pool right on the block was a definite bonus compared to other options. I would highly recommend The Mermaid Cottage and would happily stay there the next time I am in the area."
