TWA Hotel at JFK Airport

TWA Hotel at JFK Airport

10/10 Excellent
"Stayed overnight in ADA room, 2 adults. Room was well appointed, green focused (trash + recyclables). ADA rooms located at far end of floor, so leave time to get around. Check-in was quick, painless, and friendly. Rooms use Angel Soft brand of facial tissue and toilet paper. Nice! We were in the unit across the main flight facility so our view was of the Paris Cafe. We had dinner there (a beef tenderloin and steamed bass) and both were tasty. Cocktails average but the ambiance was fun. Highlight was the pool and gym. Warm and relaxing. Great fun watching the flights take off. Gym is old school cable machines keeping with the 60’s vibe. Well appointed locker rooms and amenities (toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash). Took time to walk through the property. The TWA shop has some great gift items. Loved the display of TWA uniforms. It really was a heyday of flight fashion with designers like Balmain, Valentino, Greer, and so many others who elevated the look of flight attendants and pilots for decades. Our goal was to be closest to JFK and not hassle with traffic on a Monday morning. Success! We had a smooth transition getting to our flight with a nice buffer of time. We did stay during a slower period (after college fall break and before Halloween) so hotel was peaceful and not overly crowded. Overall, highly recommend if you want peace of mind. It’s worth the extra $$ to not stress and have a moment of retro peace."

"Helpful staff, rooms may be small but have everything you need. Great relaxed vibe that feels tucked away from all the madness of the more touristy spots."

"This used to be a much better hotel. Room floor was dirty (second time I’m experiencing this). TV could not be turned off since remote control was not working. Trash not properly removed from the room. I like the hotel looks and the gym but it used to be much better"

Embassy Suites by Hilton New York Manhattan Times Square

Embassy Suites by Hilton New York Manhattan Times Square

10/10 Excellent
"The staff puts this Hotel at 5 Stars. Embassy Suites is a great brand of Hilton. The breakfast is actually good! However, the staff at this particular Hotel made our stay and actually became a highlight of NY. Adam was the first person we saw and he was full of smiles and happy to see us. We got there early and he took care of our luggage. When we came back to change into something different (we got there at 630 AM and our room was ready at 3 PM, so we had to change for the weather) he was very accommodating. Sam at the front desk was also very helpful and understanding. However, the stars of the staff were the bartenders. David, Marka and Nika (I hope a spelled the last two correctly) were OUTSTANDING!! They actually made that bar one of the best we visited. Yes there are many better themed bars in NY, no doubt. It's the service I am talking about, and these three would make any bar better! Put these three in the Dead Rabbit (we went there too) and it would raise the standard. The hotel is located almost dead center in Manhattan, making things pretty easy to get to. Travel to The Financial District needs the subway or Uber. A tip, there is a rooftop bar in the Refinery Hotel (on 38th), it is a very good place to get food and drinks, they too, have awesome service and a good view of the Empire State. I would personally avoid the Danetree."

West Village Eurohostel

8/10 Good
"The room was clean with AC, washrooms were fine/good—what you would expect in a hostel. Perfect for not too long a stay in NYC! Great location, 10 minutes from the subway. Provided robes, towels, and facecloths. It is spring mattresses, so be aware of that if it matters a lot to you, but a great stay! I would recommend to anyone going to NYC."
