住宿简介

2 Bed in Presteigne (oc-t38201)

  • Soak up the fascinating history of Presteigne with a stay in one of the town’s most iconic buildings. The apartment, which is set within the magnificent Judge’s Lodging Museum, sleeps four guests and is perfect for couples, families and friends seeking a stylish base for a holiday combining culture and countryside. Guests will receive a free pass to the hands-on museum, where you can experience what the Lodgings and Courtroom were like in their Victorian heyday. After exploring your immediate surroundings, head onto the High Street to enjoy a spot of retail therapy with quirky shops full of art, crafts, antiques and vintage finds. Sample some delicious local produce in one of the many independent food shops, heritage pubs, cafes or restaurants. Sitting midway between Ludlow and Hay on Wye, right on the border with England and Wales and surrounded by breathtaking countryside, castles and stately homes, Presteigne is a fantastic location for walkers, with easy access to the Offa’s Dyke Path, as well as the Shropshire Hills (10 miles) and Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park (20 miles).

The former housekeeper’s living quarters have been lovingly transformed into two warm and inviting holiday retreats as part of a project funded by the UK and Welsh governments, National Lottery, and Architectural Heritage Fund. You will enter via the walled garden at the rear of the building. Once inside, a private doorway leads upstairs where a characterful apartment awaits, decorated in rich colours and taking inspiration from the museum’s period rooms. Keep an eye out for original furnishings, which bring personality and charm. A generous entrance hall welcomes you into the apartment, with space to store outdoor gear, along with a hidden laundry area and little reading nook with a History Album and well-stocked bookshelf. From here, double sliding doors open onto the inviting lounge with and elegant dining area. Decorated in warm tones with cosy mood lighting you can't help but unwind here, sinking into the sumptuous sofa or gathering around the dining table for meals at the end of an action-packed day. Catch up on your favourite programmes on the Smart TV, choose a game or puzzle or plan tomorrow's adventure. The separate, hand-crafted kitchen has everything needed to whip up hearty breakfasts and delicious dinners using ingredients gathered on your travels. The apartment has two generously sized bedrooms – a double and a twin - decorated and furnished to stay in keeping with the building’s original features. The double bedroom has an en-suite shower room, and the twin bedroom has use of a separate shower room.

Guests are welcome to sit and enjoy the walled garden at any time and receive a free pass to the Museum during opening hours. Out of season a private visit can be pre-booked by arrangement. The property has free on-street parking to the rear (subject to availability) and a public car park with EV chargers is a short walk away.
