Anchor Bay markets itself as a lakeside retreat and charges premium rates, but in reality they are a remodeled roadside motel.
The room was fine and the decor was cute, but I had an issue with the smart locks and later the excessive roadside noise.
At first, I couldn’t get out of the room, and then I couldn’t lock the door behind me as I was leaving. This caused me to panic due to my claustrophobic tendencies.
I called the manager for help, but instead of offering support, she dismissed my concerns, saying I was “perfectly safe” and argued that my claustrophobia was not caused by the locks (huh?). The conversation got worse, with her comparing my situation to ordering steak and then not liking it. She hung up on me after refusing any assistance.
To top it off, I couldn’t sleep all night because of the noise from traffic and trains. I woke up to realize there also was no walking trail or nice view.
All in all, I would not stay there again due to the noisy location and the difficult manager who lacked basic customer service skills to say the least.
