Old and dirty

Property was very run down. Grounds overgrown and not been cleared of debris in years. All exterior furniture rotten. Interior furniture old and dirty. Other than location to beach was a huge waist of money. My two adult kids and I travel VRBO all over fla and have never rented a place this bad. We are fla residents and enjoy traveling to other locations in the state. Also both shower drains clogged, dryer broken. List goes on and on. That's it. Hope anyone headed there reads this review. JBC.

Spring Break at Blue Haven

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Blue Haven worked great for us! My wife and I brought my 17 year old daughter and 5 girl friends for Spring Break. The girls all stayed upstairs, which gave them some privacy and the living area and kitchen worked great as a place listen to music and 'hangout'. My wife and I were downstairs which worked well for us too! The house is located near the end of the road, which made it nice and quite. The roof top deck has a wonderful view of the gulf. The beach is a short walk away and the lake in the back was bonus. The house was well equiped and Sand Dollar was very responsive. Blue Mountain is close enough to Grayton and Seaside to easily get there, but out of the crowded mix. We really enjoyed our stay.

Heavenly views!!

We spent the end of 2017 here and we couldn't have been happier. We loved the views and we sat on the upper deck and watched the sunrise and sunset several times during our trip. We don't have views like this at home and it was just great. Really loved that it was located near a lake too, so it was almost like we had two vacation, a lake trip and a beach trip! Well worth the money and we couldn't have been happier!

Really liked this house! Great Stay!!!

It was really awesome being able to stay in this place. We definitely loved being able to see the ocean from this place. I thought it was really cool that the ocean was so close and there was also a lake right there as well. We had a great time just chilling out by the lake. We did try out the canoe as well and it was awesome. We did a lot of walking/biking everywhere while we visited so it was nice to be able to relax at this house in our down time.

Location was awesome

Home is set up really nice for a family vacation. It is private but close to everything. The view is killer! Home is set up over multiple levels and was great to let my kids have their own space. Overall, would definitely recommend.

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We rented this blue mountain house for an over the weekend stay. We were very satisfied with the location of the property; a quick access to the beach and nice views of the gulf and the lake from the house, and just because of that we would recommend this rental for a friend. Two things were not as satisfactory; first, the house condition (old building that need some renovation, and it wasn't as clean as we have expected, dirty bed comforts, dirty floor, and dirty tables, surprising because a tenant is charged $300 in advance for the cleaning crew to clean after the rental). Second, we've arrived late on Friday and picked up the keys from the safe box in the front and opened the main door but were surprised that the other doors that give you access to the house were locked using a digital entry key that was not given to us. Management could not respond in-time because of the late arrival and we had to get in the house from the balcony and open the door from inside which wasn't safe nor was convenient. Management followed up the next day to make sure we were in after that problem and they apologized for the inconvenience). Again, overall we recommend this rental because the location is awesome.

Secluded retreat for a family

My extended family of eight just finished a week at this wonderfully updated beach bungalow. The grandparents had the downstairs to themselves complete with their own kitchen and living room, while the parents and kids/cousins (four in all, ages 7 to 12) enjoyed the upstairs. Our kids were really excited by the novelty of paddling the SUPs we brought through the dune lake to the beach. As the parents, we appreciated paddling the beach gear right to our beach spot, instead of fighting for parking and hauling it over acres of sand. Where the lake meets the ocean has always been a popular beach spot for our family. The lake itself makes for a great evening paddle in the canoe included with the property rental. The quiet cul-de-sac of individual homes made for great bike riding while still being accessible to ice cream, Grayton Beach, and other amenities. We enjoyed dining in the crow's nest up top, on the back porch, and on the deck overlooking the lake. A great rental for a family or anyone looking to get away from the condo hordes.

Wonderful family house

The location of this home in Blue Mountain beach is wonderful. The backyard is right off the lake which provides beautiful views, wildlife, and great kayaking. The beach walk is very close and one can bike with ease to all the local shops/Seaside. The set up of the house is ideal for an extended family or large families wanting a bit of privacy. Our family of five had plenty of room to spread out and enjoy. The house is well maintained and the owners are very pleasant. We did not want to leave and can't wait to return.

Wonderful Family Beach Vacation

This is our second summer to make Blue Haven our home for a week. Our family are nature lovers so we enjoy the natural setting of the backyard and lake with its old Florida feel and wonderful shade trees. We brought kayaks and had fun paddling to the gulf. We especially love the quiet neighborhood and of course the beach is so beautiful and not crowded. The porches on the back facing the lake are a peaceful extension of the home. The house is neat and well kept. The two kitchens and living areas added more room and helped in the cooking as we love to cook while at the beach. But the location is convenient to 30A and all it has to offer. The owners have always been really nice and helpful. We were blessed with perfect weather and stayed on the beach for hours. Can't wait to next July when we will be back.

Great location

We got this place at the last minute because the home we usually stay at had been rented already. The roof top deck is great and the location is great as well, end of the street beautiful home all around. Was a little disappointed with lay out very strange two kitchens and tiny tv. But that being said we go for the beach not the tv. The walk to the beach is about 3-4min. Could be a wonderful place with some upkeep and care. Everything was clean and average. We were expecting more considering the other house on blue mountain was less but decorated much nicer. Don't let this distract from choosing this place but just prepare yourself for the layout. Thanks again for letting us stay at your home on the beach.

My family was lucky enough to again call this home ours for a week. And that's why we love it so much- it truly has a old Florida feel. The location on the quiet street with the shaded backyard looking out to Big Redfish Lake is perfect for our Low Country Boils! We hung hammocks in the trees and a nap or two was taken. The home continues to be well maintained and the owners are always great to talk to. We cooked seafood every meal which makes the two kitchens and refrigerators nice. We spent hours on the beautiful and quiet beaches and fished and kayaked off the surf. The upstairs deck to watch the sun come up or set is my favorite part. What a find this home is! Looking forward to being back!

Beach lovers

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this wonderful beach house. It is located in the Old Blue Mountain Beach community which is mostly residential. The home is very comfortable and convenient to the beach and restaurants. We took our canoe and enjoyed the lake behind the house (which is a dune lake with a beach inlet) and fishing off the dock. The backyard is very quiet and peaceful with a great view of the lake. The observation deck has wonderful view of the beach. The neighborhood homes are very nice as well. The beds are comfy as is the furniture! We took teenagers with friends and it was nice to have a place for them upstairs while we enjoyed the downstairs (two kitchens was nice). Loved this vacation and hope to be back soon!

Family Retreat

We loved this Old-Florida cottage in the tradition of Grayton Beach, nestled at the end of the road among private homes, away from the multi-story condos at the west end of Blue Mountain. My sister and her family were self-contained on the 1st floor with their own kitchen, dining table, living room, tv, and porch, while my husband and I and our kids used the top floor with the same amenities. The larger upstairs kitchen was used to prepare meals that we all ate together. We rented kayaks to paddle our young kids, ages 1-6, and our gear to the beach via the lake. They loved playing in the shallow water of the lake emptying into the Gulf almost more than the waves themselves. The bike-able proximity to Seaside and Water Colors for shopping and eating out allowed for a change of pace after a day at the beach.

An ideal week at the beach

We had a wonderful experience in this house. It was more than spacious for 6 of us. There are many nice porches, an excellent lake dock, a deck overlooking the lake. Having 2 fridges was really nice. While the beach access was not directly across the street, it was just a short walk to it. And the beach itself was never crowded and always clean. We have been coming to this area for 15 years and would choose this house above any other we've found. It's well worth the money. The owners are really thoughtful and pleasant to deal with as well.
