“We wanted to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, and would normally have gone somewhere hot for this milestone but with Covid we are still not prepared to fly anywhere, so were looking for something different to just a ‘hotel room’, I saw this advertised on Expedia, and it looked to be just what we were looking for, a bit of luxury in a tranquil setting, just the down time we needed after a busy year. Penbontbren ticked all the boxes, the suites are lovely, an old barn conversion, our suite……

“Lovely overnight winter stay. Hotel and rooms are spotless. Comfy bed with quality bedding, everything felt of good quality. Excellent shower and modern bathroom. We chose the Black Lion as we prefer to stay and eat in establishments that do not allow dogs and there aren't many now ( I know some people would disagree and want to take their dogs everywhere but we all need a place we can feel comfortable in and every other venue in town seems to accept dogs now so dog owners have plenty of……

“Excellent friendly hotel. Ample parking, clean and comfortable rooms. Restaurant excellent. Owners are very friendly. Nothing too much trouble. There was a minor set back with checking in. Check in from 4 but door locked. It was a little frustrating as I’d been working all day but wasn’t waiting too long. Hopefully was a one off as I will be surely checking in again when I’m in the area. ”

“We absolutely loved our stay at Fern cottage. Such a beautiful cottage and very comfortable. The beach was just around the corner a minutes walk away. We would definitely stay again. ”

“Off to a bad start due to the, otherwise very pleasant, owner pouncing on us as we arrived following a day of travel. We really just wanted to be left alone to arrive and unpack. Not the right time to attempt to convey information and instructions as we unpacked from the car. Nicely situated geographically with a lovely view of the sea from the front facing windows (the only windows unfortunately) and front door. Unfortunately, a public footpath goes straight past your only windows and front……

“Lovely converted cart lodge, spacious yet cosy. Quite well equipped, very comfy beds. Hosts helpful and super-friendly.”

“Kitchen was stocked with bread, butter, milk and jam, which was lovely but there was NO tea or coffee. However, given how dirty some of the mugs were, that probably wasn't a bad thing. There were also dirty trays left in the oven and drawer. Rest of cottage was clean thankfully. However, frustrating as limited power points, and no shaver socket in bathroom for toothbrush. Bedroom door handle/latch was very stiff and hard to open. Shower temperature dial was also VERY stiff. It was stuck on……
