A great, comfortable and historic INN with the best breakfast in Alaska, and it was complementary!
The staff was pleasant and helpful.
I had a great two night stay and will definitely stay there again.
The room was clean, the bed comfortable and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We would definitely stay there again when we return to Skagway.
Wow! Five stars! Great location, clean rooms, fantastic food and THE friendliest manager and staff. Reasonable prices for Alaska and home grown breakfast included????! My only regret is not sampling the rhubarb grown on site. Thank you!!!
There was a landslide on the only road into Skagway , it was blocked could not get in . Called the hotel after we finally found a number left a message with the owner, emailed the owner several times never got a phone call back never got a email back but got charged for our two nights, heard from several other people staying at other hotels in town all of them got calls from hotel staff informing them of the landslide and worked with them on thier reservations, I would highly recommend staying away from this place
Stayed 2 nights in Aug 2026

This property is great for proximity to town because it's off main street. The front staff are friendly and helpful - owner is inflexible regards breakfast time - we arrived at 9:05 and were denied food and had to spend 60$ to eat out. Should you to change dates or cancel due to unexpected events like landslides and ferry issues, weather etc, the owner is unresponsive and unwilling to help if you've booked through Expedia. The restaurant was closed for dinner and the outdoor dining was not available. Also, the rooms on Expedia do not indicate NO showers in room and you must use shared facilities with other people which is not indicated. There is no air conditioning in the rooms we were in did not have access to fresh air as the windows were sealed shut, fans were provided and were of good quality.
Sam was very nice and did her best to help. It's "interesting" but i do not recommend.
Love the ambiance of the Historic Skagway Inn was wonderful.
The staff at the front desk was very friendly and took me to my room and explained everything. Breakfast was simple, but good.
One thing to note. This is a former Brothel, and bathrooms are shared. There approximately 8 rooms and 2 full bathrooms upstairs and a 2-piece downstairs. There was no issue with availability when we needed to use it.
curious place
historic so the external bathroom was an understandable feature. Shutting everything at 4pm was not what I expected however! A hotel that charges a high price to stay (at least in my books) but provides no restaurant or bar in the evening when the rooms are all full is not trying hard enough. No explaination from the owner other than it is what it is! Luckily his attitude was more than compensated by the other staff, particularly those at breakfast who helped you start the day with a smile. Worth a visit certainly but dont expect too many frills!!!
Ian was great checking us in , our room was unfortunately hot , the walls are paper thin and the beds are sloped from people sitting on the sides of them . Once people stopped walking around in there rooms (yes you can hear them walking in the rooms next door so if their talking u can hear every detail ) . Breakfast was very nice and included . We would not stay there again due to the heat and the noise and uncomfortable beds .
The room was small but had nice furniture and clean and confortable bed. It was quiet but it did not have a bathroom. The bathroom available was doen the hall. It was clean and i had a good shower. The staff were nice and helpfull. The breakfast was included and very tasty, it was a good surprise. My room was pet friendly. The wifi in the room was good. Parking was avsilable across from the hotel.
It was difficult to find in a fairly small town. Poor signage. Locals didn’t know where to look for it as it is that forgettable. Rooms were clean but paper thin walls. We could hear conversations in the next room very clear. Beds were squeaky and saggy.
